Under 12’s
Play Truagh this Saturday the 16th of April at 11am in the Gerrys Prepared Veg U-12 Spring League in Clones. Lets hope the lads can continue their winning ways.
U-14’s
Came out on the wrong side in a high scoring game against Aughnamullan on Saturday. These lads are putting in a lot of work so we are confident they will get off the mark against Drumhowan in a couple of weeks time.
Minor
Minors had a good start to their league campaign with a hard fought win against Patrick Emmetts a Currin/Aghabog Combination. Clones got off to a great start with a goal from Declan McKernan and battled to a 2 point lead at the break with some fine 45s from Fabian Beggan and points from Matthew Rehill, 2 from Declan McKernan and 1 from Tiarnan Monaghan. In the second half Patrick Emmetts came battling back with a goal and led the game for a while but with a trusty left boot Fabian kept our score board ticking over with 3 more points to win the game on a scoreline of Clones 1-10 to Patrick Emmetts 1-9. Team and Scorers. Cian McCarney, Conor Reilly, Jack Lynch, Rian Kierans, Matthew Rehill (0-1), Matthew Newell, David McCabe, Fabian Beggan (5pts), Darragh Slowey, Henry Hipwell, Tiernan Monaghan (0-1), Daniel Connolly, Evan Mulvaney, Declan McKernan (1-02), James Cleary. Subs used Simon O’Connell, Matthew Monaghan, Dermot O’Neill, Kevin Coogan. Next game is at home to Emyvale played Tuesday this week.
Seniors
Last Sunday seen our Senior team make a trip to Toome for the second round of the Eurotech Junior Football League. A game that was played in difficult conditions Clones made a good start and a goal from the spot by Adrian Alford had us well in the driving seat. Unfortunately that was as good as it got as from this point on Toome took control of the game eventually running out winners on a scoreline of 0-16 to 1-9. Next up for the lads is the visit of Aghabog this Sunday at 2.30 pm in Clones.
Please make an effort to support all our teams.
Ulster Champions
Well Done to James Mealiff and the Monaghan U-21’s on a hard fought and brilliant win over Tyrone in the Ulster Championship Final. Everyone that was present last Wednesday night witnessed a Monaghan team determined to overthrow the All-Ireland champions. James played no small part in Monaghans first Ulster Final win at this level for 17 years. No rest for the lads as they are out against Cork in the All-Ireland Semi-Final this Saturday at 4.30 in O’Connor Park, Tullamore. Best of Luck to James and the team.
Best of Luck
To Fabian Beggan and the Monaghan Minors who take on Donegal in the League Semi Final in Clones at 11.30. The lads have had a great league so far and hopefully this will continue on Saturday.
U-8 & U-10’s
Will be training on Wednesday nights from 6-7pm in the Peace Link. All are welcome.
