Rockcorry Notes

Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League

Our senior footballers commenced their Monaghan Electrical intermediate football league campaign last Sunday 20th March when they played Donaghmoyne at Pairc Naomh Mhuire. The game was played in glorious sunny conditions and while we missing a number of established players the lads fought and played hard against a strong and determined Donaghmoyne outfit who sealed the spoils on a scoreline Rockcorry 2-8 Donaghmoyne 1-15. Regardless of the final result the team can take great heart from the fact that they gave it their all on the day and while they just fell short after a titanic battle they can now look forward to other challenges that lay ahead in this competition. Please visit our Facebook website or our Flickr page to view a selection of action photographs.

Gerry’s Prepared Veg – Under 12

Our under 12 footballers commenced their Spring League campaign last Saturday 19th March when they travelled to Threemilehouse to play Sean McDermott’s. The game was played in perfect conditions with glorious sunshine and on a flawless sod and proved to be a compelling encounter which served up some quality football. Both teams started well and notched over some impressive scores and at the break we enjoyed a half-time advantage, leading Sean McDermott’s 0-4 Rockcorry 0-6. When the match resumed the home side were quick out of the blocks and controlled the opening exchanges and were rewarded with some fine points to quickly establish a healthy 0-10 to 0-6 advantage. We responded and played some delightful football and fired over some lovely points towards the end of the game to leave the final score Sean McDermott’s 0-10 Rockcorry 0-9. Their next game is on Saturday 2nd April when they host Tyholland at Pairc Naomh Mhuire and the game has a throw-in time of 2pm.
