Killanny Notes

ntermediate Team
Cill Eanna 2g 9p
Cremartin 1g 11p
A Peter Dooley penalty in the dying seconds gave us a one point victory over the visiting Cremartin side which we just about deserved.  After leading  for 55 minutes  we gave away a penalty which Barry Carraher netted to put us one point down and straight away we gave another free which left us behind by two and time almost up. Our boys were not going to be beaten  and on the attack Gavin Flanagan was hauled to the ground in the small square  Peter Dooley stood tall and slotted away the spot kick much to the delight of the home supporters and a first win in intermediate football in 25 years. Cill Eanna were first of the mark with a point from a free in the second minute. We registered 4 wides before Kevin Crawley pointed in the 12th minute. Gavin Flanagan and Cillian Leegan pointed and Peter Dooley pointed from a free before Crematin first pointed in the 26th minute. Peter Dooley added another and Crematin finished the first half scoring with a Barry Caraher point. We managed to score ten wides in the first half. At the restart Cremartin scored 2 points and Gavin Flanagan got his fist to a squared ball to put us 5 points up.. Gavin added another free after been fouled himself. Cremartin added two more points and Peter Dooley cancelled one out with a free. Cremartin were in top gear and scored three more points  and again that man Dooley added a free. Cremartin were awarded a penalty to put them one point up followed closely with a free which Barry Carraher converted but on the attack Cill Eanna were also awarded a penalty and Peter Dooley coolly converted.

The U14’s take on Magheracloone away on Saturday at 2.00 in their first game of the year, best of luck lads
The U12 squad had their first outing of the year on Saturday past when they entertained Scotstown at home
Due to the large number of players available we have taken the opportunity to field two teams at this age level to ensure everybody gets football. In the first game played the Killanny boys put in a very good performance and won their match convincingly. In the second game despite our best efforts Scotstown proved too strong for us. Well done to all involved.
