Ulster Junior ‘A’ Men Doubles Final.
On Tuesday night 22-03-2016 at Kingscourt, Monaghan doubles partners, Conor O’Gorman (Donaghmoyne) and Terry McElvaney (Monaghan Harps) narrowly lost out to Tyrone duo, Ryan Daly and Barry Devlin. This was a very competitive and close encounter throughout with the lead changing hands on a number of occasions. Monaghan led the first game 18 – 14 going into the finals stages of it, only to be hauled back and overtaken by the Tyrone duo who took 7 marks in a row to win, 21 – 18. In the 2nd game Conor and Terry looked completely out of sorts in the early stages as they trailed 11 – 04. They staged a remarkable recovery in that game to draw level at 12 all and from there to the end the lead exchanged hands on several occasions. With the Tyrone lads leading 20 – 18 and serving, somehow Conor and Terry found their form yet again to win the game, 21 – 20. The final game was a very close affair in the early stages but as they game went on Tyrone’s Ryan and Barry found their form again and halfway through they had built up a lead that Conor and Terry were unable to claw back. The 3rd game ended 21 -15.
Well done to Conor and Terry who put up a very brave fight on the night and congratulations to Ryan Daly and Berry Devlin on winning the Ulster title.
