With the lengthening of the days, attention is firmly focused on forthcoming fixtures. The county minors make another trip to Templemore Sports Complex, Derry, on Saturday to take on Donegal again, this time in the National Minor League. This is an important match for the girls as they have only lost one match to Tyrone this season, and Tyrone have already beaten Donegal. This match sees Monaghan without the services of Chloe McGuigan who picked up a nasty finger injury, requiring surgery, when the two sides last met and she is a big loss to the Monaghan attack. Clontibret however are well represented on the panel by Hannah McSkeane (Capt), Sorcha McDonald, Niamh Kieran, Ríoghnach Duffy, Éimear McKenna, Emily Madden, Sioneen Morgan, Amy Gorman and Clíodhna Moran. We wish the girls ‘good luck’ on Saturday and send our best wishes to Chloe for a speedy recovery.
On Wednesday March 30th our seniors make the short trip to Middletown to play the locals in the first round of the Armagh Premier League. This competition will be a good test of skill, fitness and character and it is important we have as many senior players as possible available for selection.
This season many of our U-16 and almost all of our U-14 Armagh League matches will be on Tuesday evenings. Our U-16s play Derrymacash on Tues April 5, in Clontibret, while our U-14s host Mullaghabawn on the following Tues – April 12th. It is therefore very important that training sessions are well attended at all levels.
On Friday April 8 the pupils from Scoil Mhuire will participate in a Cumann na mBunscol Blitz in Cloghan and the following day many of these little girls will participate in the first of the Armagh Go-Games Blitzes. Venue to be confirmed.
Club training is as follows: Senior: Wednesday and Friday 7.30pm
U-16 Group: Thursday 6.30pm. Beginners group to be confirmed, but it is hoped that their training will take place on Thursdays also. As always help is required at all underage training sessions. Thanks to Mary Fitzpatrick for her help recently.
Registration for all our club members will take place on Tuesday evening, March 29, at 7.15 in the Community Centre, upstairs. Underage players must be accompanied by a parent/guardian as their
membership form must be jointly signed. Registration fees remain the same as the past few years – Senior €50, Underage €30 (which includes parental membership also).
With tickets for The Kube now on sale, the club has been forced to postpone its own fundraiser until later in the year. Anyone wishing to buy tickets for The Kube can contact any senior player or Committee member who will be delighted to oblige!!!! Representing the club on May 1 will be Ned McCann, Marie Greenan, Sinead Mohan and Emily Madden. Éimear McKenna will be eagerly waiting in the wings, lest Ned takes ‘cold feet’!!!
The club members were deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of Aideen’s Dad, Tom, last week. To Nuala, John, Aideen, Kathleen, Gerard, Conor and Thomas the club extends its prayerful sympathy.
