Clontibret Camogie Notes

On Saturday last we hosted a very enjoyable Indoor blitz, in the Community Centre, which catered for 32 eager players. With a very quick turn-over between the 5 U-12 teams it wasn’t long before these little ladies were puffing and panting and well ready for their refreshments. Meanwhile our U-14 players were put through their paces, outdoors, by Clare Dowdall, Regional Development Officer for Monaghan and surrounding counties. As per usual the parents excelled themselves and had bowls of delicious, juicy fruit for all participants, at the half-way stage, and tea and sandwiches for the adults. A huge ‘thank you’ to all those who contributed to make the event so enjoyable and facilitated its smooth running. Great to see Marie in action among the ‘young ones’ again – even if it was as a referee instead of coaching. Many thanks also to the Committee of the Community Centre for use of the Centre.

The Coaching course for U-8/U-10s, directed at parents/senior players/TY students/Gaisce students, due to take place this Thursday at 7.30, has been deferred due to First Confessions. However, it will be held in the next fortnight.

A very interesting Commemorative Event will take place in Cloghan on Saturday April 2. Basically this will comprise representatives from all clubs, across all codes of Gaelic games, aged 14 – 16, participating, initially, in an exciting history and sporting quiz. This will be followed by a ‘Clubs Challenge’ on the playing fields! At present we are looking for expressions of interest from our young members who would like to participate.

Our county minors travel to Wicklow on Saturday for their opening match of the National Minor League. Due to difficulty sourcing a pitch, the Wicklow Board have been unable to confirm details regarding time and venue. However, it is provisionally fixed for 2.30pm in Greystones. We wish the team well especially our club representatives: Éimear, Emily, Niamh, Chloe, Ríoghnach, Sioneen, Sorcha, Hannah, Amy and Clíodhna.

Indoor training continues each Thursday evening for 2nd level pupils and 6th Class at 6.30pm. This will be followed by county Minor training, also in the Community Centre, at 7.30.

Senior training continues each Friday at 7.00pm.
