Clontibret Camogie Notes

By Majella Boyd Fri 19th Feb

It’s all systems go on Saturday when we host the first of the seasons U-12/14 indoor Blitzes in the Community Centre beginning at 3pm and concluding at 5pm. So far we have 16 participants and 5 adults willing to lend a hand which is very encouraging. Our participants are asked to arrive by 2.45pm wearing tracksuit bottoms, suitable footwear and their helmets. Club jerseys will be distributed before the Blitz commences. It is hoped to also have representation from Castleblayney, Inniskeen, Derrynoose and Culloville.

On Thursday Feb 25 a very important course for parents/TY/Gaisce students/senior players, who would like to help coach our U-8/10s, takes place in the Community Centre at 7.30pm. This will be facilitated by Clare Dowdall, Regional Development Officer. No previous experience of coaching or playing is necessary. Those interested should forward their names to me on or before Thursday 18.

Recently we held our Club AGM. Although this was poorly attended, what we lacked in quantity was compensated for in quality! The following officers were elected for 2016:

Cathaoirleach: Macartan Kieran

Secretary: Aisling McElvaney

Asst-Secretary: Marie Greenan

Treasurer: Aisling Greenan

Asst-Treasurer: TBC

PRO: Geraldine Clarke

IT Administrator: Ned McCann

Children’s Officer: TBC

Many interesting ideas were put forward regarding the development of the club and fund-raising. A further meeting will be held on Friday evening at 8.30pm to ‘put flesh’ on these ideas. Registration for all our underage players and their parents will take place on Tues March 8 at 7.30 pm. Enclosed is the Secretary’s Report for 2015.

Our county minors continue to train twice weekly in preparation for the upcoming National League which sees them take on Wicklow, away, on Saturday Feb 27

U-16/14 training continues on Thursday evening in the Community Centre at 6.30pm sharp. Our seniors currently workout each Friday at 7.00pm.

Many thanks to all those who purchased tickets in the recent GAA National Draw. Talk about a late flurry, as literally hundreds of euro ‘rolled in’ in the last few days!! Many thanks to Aisling for her promotion of this amazing Draw. Proceeds from what the club sold goes to buying playing gear for our county U-14 panel, which involves a number of Clontibret club players.

Great to have Mary back at county minor training on Thursday last – much to the panel members delight! Don’t worry Mary, we have you ear-marked for a non-playing role already!!

Best wishes to Oonagh McNally, Mum of playing member Nicole, who is recuperating after her surgery.
