Carrickmacross Notes

By Majella Boyd Thu 4th Feb

Emmets! It’s that time of the year again when the juvenile football season takes off and the Emmets are looking forward to seeing all our underage players out on the pitches gearing up for the year ahead. The new facilities on the Donaghmoyne road will be complete in the coming few weeks and will complement the joys of the physical activity and preparation of the young Emmets as they get ready for their respective competitions. With this in mind, the registration of all juvenile players for 2016 who are between the ages of six and sixteen will take place this Friday evening 5th February in the Emmet Centre on the Ballybay Road from 7.00pm and 9.00pm.  The membership subscription is €20 per child; €30 per adult.  There is also a family membership available for €70; which includes two adults and family children up to the age of eighteen!

This year the Emmets would encourage at least one parent of juvenile players to become a club member because an increase in membership will benefit our chances of gaining extra funding and securing grants that may become available; so the more members the better. In addition; the membership fee is great value especially for families; it contributes so-much to our club development plan as well as your children’s welfare and sporting interests which are supervised in a healthy environment by experienced coaches. Text messages or notes will be issued from the coaches in charge of each age-group before starting back in search of success! Further information can be got from Andrew O’Sullivan (Youth Officer) who will answer any query in connection of the above! ampos@eircom.net.

Great to see Emmet’s players Niall Loughman and Aaron Jones get off to a good start with the Monaghan Under-Twenty-One team in the Shamrock Cup against Louth winning by the minimum margin in a free-flowing and entertaining contest that was played in difficult and windy conditions at Darver.

The club Lotto went ahead as usual on Monday night in the Emmet Centre but there was no jackpot winner!

The numbers drawn were 01, 03, 16 and 23:

The winners of the “Keep it Local” vouchers were €50 Matt Carthy, €20 Colm McCahey, €20 Pauleen Downey, €10 Noel Gartlan: Once again thanks to those who sold on Saturday night; it makes all the difference! Next week’s Jackpot will be €4.500: Play On-Line!

If you are travelling on Sunday to Clones to support the home county for the Monaghan v Down game; it is advisable to buy early and save yourself some money. Pre match day tickets at Market Square are €10: but on Sunday they are €15; Children under sixteen are free!
