The Year Ahead:
The new committee under the chairmanship of Damien Murphy met last week to plan and discuss a number of fundraising initiatives to be held over the next six months.
45 Card Drive: After a very successful opening night last Thursday night, the 45 card drive continues this Tuesday and Thursday nights with the final on Tuesday 9th February. With 500 euro in prizemoney there is sure to be keen competition for the winning hand. Proceeds from the card drive go towards our under age teams.
Club Aghabog: which was a resounding success last year is reaching the last few weeks of this year’s fundraiser. All proceeds from the sale of tickets @ 10 euro each, remains within the club while the very attractive list of prizes are supplied by Croke Park. The time frame for completion of this fundraiser, which goes towards Co. Board affiliation fees, is Friday 19th February, so as to allow all names on tickets to be submitted to Croke Park.
Membership: With the playing season only two months away it is important that all players, adult and underage players, parents, team mentors, are fully compliant with membership of the club. An invoice from Croke Park has confirmed that it will cost 3400 euro to cover all our teams for the coming year, failure to do so will render them ineligible to avail of insurance cover for injuries sustained while training or playing. The rates of cover are as follows, family membership 50 euro. adult players 30 euro, students 20 euro, juveniles 10 euro, club membership 20 euro and clubhouse social members 10 euro.
Fundraising: A major development draw will be launched after Easter to proceed with further work on Ned’s Meadow, which now is looking splendid with a lovely carpet of grass , as passers-by will have noticed. The most urgent work will consist of a walking track, lights, goal posts, ball stopping nets and fence around the field, which when completed will make it a player friendly training pitch.
Sub Committees: Our Chairman intends to set up a number of sub committees in the coming weeks to get more of our members involved in work sharing and give them responsibility for different aspects of our club structures.
Notes: If anybody has anything to be included in the Aghabog club notes in 2016, can they please email pauric.mcphillips@gmail.com or ring 086-1659589.
