A New Year has arrived and with it new challenges but also plenty of opportunities. On behalf of the Rockcorry GAA club I wish you a great, prosperous, blissful, healthy, bright, delightful, energetic and extremely Happy New Year. 2015 was a magical year for the club so let’s hope 2016 will provide as many great memories. Here’s hoping and wishing for a Great 2016!
Breakfast with Champions
In my book you can beat a drum BUT you can’t beat community spirit and over the last couple of months our club, village and community has been buzzing with excitement and pride after the exploits of our senior footballers in the Ulster Junior Football Championship campaign. We are a small community and the sense of pride and togetherness was very much in evidence last Sunday morning (3rd January 2016) when we hosted our ‘Breakfast with Champion’s’ in St. Mary’s Hall. This was our first attempt at doing a BIG Breakfast event and I have to say it was ‘Eggcellent’ and a ‘Sizzling’ success. There was a superb community atmosphere and the level of support was really overwhelming as the whole community and indeed from right across the county came out in force to attend our ‘Breakfast with Champions’ where our senior footballers along with a number of highly distinguished cooks & volunteers served up a traditional ‘Fry-Up’ feast. It was a very enjoyable morning and a great opportunity for kids and parents to get their photograph taken with both the Packie Boylan & the Paul Kerr Cup & the Players while also wishing them all the best in the upcoming All-Ireland semi-final encounter against Ardnaree Sarsfields. The feedback was very positive and on behalf of the Rockcorry GAA club I want to thank everyone who travelled and supported our ‘Breakfast with Champions’ or made donations towards this fund-raising event. A massive thank you to all the cooks, cleaners and all the lads who put in a lot of effort to help out on the day to make this event highly successful and very enjoyable. Well done everyone.
