Emyvale Notes

January 8th, 2016

New Year: As we start a new year, we look forward with hope that 2016 will prove a successful one for Emyvale GAA Club. Will this be the year that our Intermediate Team gains promotion to senior ranks? We certainly hope so, they have the ammunition & with the right guidance, could achieve this goal.

County Debut: Well done to Karl Mc Quaid who made his debut for Monaghan County Team in the Dr. Mc Kenna Cup last Sunday.

Former Great: Emyvale has lost another great former player with the passing of Johnnie Mc Kenna. Better known as Wee Johnnie, he was part of the 1945 team that won the Junior Double, the first Emyvale team to do so. He played at wing half back for Emyvale for many years & gave great service to the club. There was never a dull moment when Johnnie was around & many stories will be relayed of his antics both on & off the field. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

Sympathy: The sympathy of the club is extended to Blain Murphy on the death of his grandfather, Brendan Murphy, Griggy. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

Hats For Sale: Mc Mahon’s Supermarket have Emyvale Hats for sale with the Emyvale Crest on them. They would make a great present.

Emylott: No Jackpot winner. 1 match 3: Tom Dooner, Ballisodare, Co. Sligo. Promoters: Ryan Mulligan & Janice Cassidy. Yearly Promoter: Barry Mc Carron. Numbers 14, 20, 26, 27. Rota: Dermot Mc Mahon, Victor Watterson.

Bingo: Tonight Thursday in the Emyvale Leisure Centre at 9.00pm. Cleaning Rota: Martin O’Brien
