Emmets Club Notes! The Lotto draw went ahead as usual on Monday night in the Centre but there was no winner of the jackpot. The winners of the “Keep it Local” vouchers were Garret Marron, Main Street €50; Josie Callan, Highfield €20; Giles Meehan, Donogue €20 and Colin McCaughey Magherboy Road €10. Thanks to the weekend sellers for a good effort it made the difference; next week’s jackpot is €4,400.
The Emmets new senior team management was unveiled at the weekend when the panel of players met in the Emmet Centre on Saturday night. The man in charge this coming year is local man Glen Reilly and he will be ably assisted by James Lovett. Glen was with the Emmet minor team last year and has managed other teams in his native Louth while James is an experienced coaching and fitness specialist and we wish both men a fruitful season ahead!
The Minor team is doing their paces at the moment under the guidance of Gordon Finnegan and John McMenamin and are looking forward to their pre-season programme of training!
Emmet supporters who are travelling for this Sunday please note that the Allianz League game Monaghan v Roscommon has now moved to Kiltoom. The game is also an all-ticket fixture and tickets are available from the usual outlets: buy as soon as possible as there is a limited capacity in Kiltoom. On line (http://monaghangaa.tickets.ie/) or drop in to Super Valu in Market Square! Prices as follows: Adults and OAPs €10.
Emmet members will be sad to hear of the death of John Cramer who died in England and who was buried in his native Leitrim last week. John was a great enthusiast of the club in the early eighties and helped out with juvenile teams and when the Emmets went to America in 1983 he travelled with the club. He also thought nothing of transporting players in his blue Mercedes transit to games all over the county. We also remember Garda Eugene Earls who died very suddenly in county Galway last week; he served the community of Carrickmacross with distinction for many years and played hurling for our Emmet colleagues for some time.
