Last night  the Friday 13th of November in the Great Northern Hotel Bundoran  the 28th Quinn Building Products  sponsored Ulster GAA Writers awards took place. Monaghan took home 3 of the 12 awards handed out on the night.

First up was the Scotstown GAA  club who took home the Cultural Award thanks in the main to  work of Pauline and Mackie  Rooney over the last 40 years in not only Scór but also the Irish language.

Next up was Senior County  Manager Malachy  O Rourke who fought off opposition from Sean Quigley, Fermanagh and Mickey Harte, Tyrone to win the Personality of the Year Award.

Finally Conor Mc Manus added another award to the trophy cabinet when he overcame Mattie Donnelly and Sean Quigley to become the first Monaghan  winner of the Male Footballer of the Year since 2007. Co. PRO Noel  Duffy was also nominated in the Communications Category an award that went to Fermanagh’s Pauric Mc Gurn.
