Senior League Semi-Final

Magheracloone ended their league campaign on Sunday last when they fell to a stronger Scotstown outfit in the league semi-final. Although the Mitchells turned in a strong performance and the teams were level at half-time they were three points short when the final whistle sounded.

Final score Magheracloone 1-9 Scotstown 1-12

Team & Scorers on the day:

David Kirk, Paul Mc Ardle, Pete Ward, Cian Freeman, Ronan Freeman, Jamie Kieran, John Mc Mahon (0-1), James Ward, Gavin Doogan, Allan Kieran (0-2), Thomas Freeman (1-3), Peter Tuite, Padraig Mc Mahon (0-1), Sean Marron & Paudie Finnegan (0-2).

Alan Mc Cahey replaced Sean Marron in the 53rd minute.

The team and management would like to thank those who supported the team all year and we look forward to playing senior football for 2016.

Junior Academy

Our Junior Academy continues every Saturday morning in the community centre from 10am to 11am. Gum shield essential. For further information contact Declan Farrelly (087) 2660143 or Martin Mc Connon (087) 1949118.

Juvenile Presentation

It was great to see such a huge turnout at our presentation evening. The spirit of the club was in full flight with everyone enjoying themselves. Children were presented with certificates & medals by their coaches who worked tirelessly throughout the year & watched each child improve their skill. The club provided goodie bags for the younger children and hot food for the older age groups. A big thankyou to all who helped organise the evening and those who helped in anyway during the evening itself. The club wishes to thank Marty Corey from Monaghan Coaching staff for taking the time out to present the medals on the night and say a few words.

Coaches

With the year now at a close the juvenile committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all the coaches for their hard work and commitment throughout the year. Without these volunteers our children would not be competing at the highest level. We look forward to their continued commitment for 2016 and hopefully a few new faces will join them along the way.

Strength & Conditioning

Our strength & conditioning program continues this Friday from 6pm to 7pm. So far the turnout has be disappointing. Children playing U12 to U18 are welcome to attend. Parents can watch the session also. Head coaches could you please send a reminder to your team stressing the importance to attend. €3 per session.

Juvenile AGM

The juvenile AGM is on Friday 13th November in the Community Centre at 7:30pm. The club would like to keep improving. If you have any suggestions on how we can do this come along and share your idea with us. At least one parent from each house hold is requested to attend. We welcome new coaches, committee members or anyone who is willing to help in any way.

A.G.M

The A.G.M. for 2015 will be held in the Community Centre on Friday 20th November at 7.30pm. All members should have received notice of the meeting at this stage and nomination forms along with notice of motions should be with the Secretary by 13th November.

A number of officer posts will become vacant and will be filled at this meeting. All members are invited to come to this annual meeting and to offer themselves to work for the club in the coming year.

Rannafast Semi-Final

Patrician High School Carrickmacross 1-11 St Patrick’s Maghera 1-8

The Patrician High School Carrickmacross delivered a huge shock result in Garvaghey Co. Tyrone on Thursday last. They proved that the “favourites” tag means nothing. It was an absorbing game that was in doubt right until the final whistle. The Maghera team suffered their first defeat in their Ulster Colleges’ football career that had already delivered four cups at under-age level. But the Patrician boys fully deserved to be playing their neighbours St Macartan’s, Monaghan in the “A” Schools Rannafast Final. The Patrician boys will relish this challenge.

It is a pleasure to watch the top players from all the surrounding clubs (Magheracloone, Carrickmacross, Inniskeen, Meath Hill, Drumconrath, Corduff , Donaghmoyne and Kingscourt) play superb Gaelic football together. We would like to wish the team and Management in particular the Mitchell representatives Conor Mc Keown (Captain), Niall Marron, Liam Óg Murray, Barry Kieran & Dylan Mc Cahey the very best of luck in the final against St. Macartans.
