Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League Final
Doohamlet 1-10 Aughnamullen 0-8 22/11/15
Doohamlet completed their first double when they won the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League Final against Aughnamullen in Corduff last Sunday.
In a game that belied the time of year to produce plenty of entertaining fare, helped by a pitch in excellent condition, Doohamlet kicked some fine scores to win a first IFL title since 1935. A week after the disappointment of their Ulster Club IFC semi-final defeat, Doohamlet got off to a slow start, seeing Aughnamullen kick the opening five points, but they came back to win, spurred on by star men Barry McGinn and Colin Walshe. Jamie Walshe got the only goal of the game to help Doohamlet run out five-point winners against an Aughnamullen side led by Mark McArdle. Doohamlet’s win means league table-toppers Carrickmacross will join them in senior football in 2016.
