U13 Football Super Touch Blitz

On Thursday 15th of October, Monaghan Coaching and Games organised a 7 aside U13 Super Touch Blitz.

On the night we had 4 groups (Group A + B had 4 teams, Group C + D had 5 teams), in total there was 18 teams who took part in the competition. All teams played at least 3 games. The group stages were very close and competitive. Inniskeen topped Group A,  Killanny topped Group B,  Monaghan Harps topped Group C and Donaghmoyne topped group D.

The Rules for the blitz are slightly different to what the teams are used to, with a different scoring system in operation. All goals are worth 1 point but any point scored outside the 25m scoring zone is worth 3 points. This rule is to encourage long range shooting and there were some terrific 3 point scores last night, which was great to see.

Killanny and Inniskeen played out a very close semi final with Inniskeen pulling away in the second half, winnng by 5 points in the end. Monaghan Harps and Donaghmoyne played in the second semi final, Harps were ahead by 2 points at half time and ended up winning by 3 points in the end.

The final between Donaghmoyne and Monaghan Harps was an entertaining game. The first half was very close with both teams exchanging scores. Harps were one up at half time 3-2 and went onto opened up a 5-2 lead in the second half. Inniskeen keep going until the end and were unlucky with a 3 point effort just before the final whistle. Harps ended up winning by 5-2. The Harps skill levels on the ball were very impressive throughout the competition.

We would like to thank the clubs that took part in the blitz. Also a big thank you to the 8 referees that officiated at the blitz; Fintan Finnegan David Hurson, Ciaran Mulligan, Barry Grimley, Martin Mc Mahon, Jason Mc Andrew, Xavier Coyle and Raymond Malone.
