Family Fun Day: The countdown is nearly over for our Family Fun Sports Day at Gavan Duffy Park this Saturday, October 3. The fun for all ages will start at 12.30pm and will continue throughout the day, with races, sports, the finals of our U-12 Street Leagues, music and more. It all builds up to the Great Harps Balloon Race, which will take centre stage on the pitch at 4pm. Keep an eye on our website and social media this week for a full schedule and for more details and rules about the Balloon Race. Everyone is welcome to join us for what promises to be a very enjoyable day.

Seniors: We advanced to the semi-finals of the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship with a hard-earned win over Magheracloone in Scotstown last Saturday. Points by Nicholas Treanor, Dónal Hahessy, Neil McAdam and Fearghal McMahon left us level by the end of the first quarter, but Magheracloone hit the next three points and we trailed by 0-8 to 0-6 at half-time, despite hitting back through Stephen Driver and Dónal. Dónal’s third point, a brace from Shane Smyth and a goal by Stephen got us back on level terms and although Magheracloone regained the lead, a second goal by Michael Galligan and points from Fearghal and Liam Hahessy helped us through on a 2-12 to 0-14 scoreline. We return to Scotstown for the semi-final against Clontibret this Sunday at 3.30pm. Please support!

Hurling:

Wall Ball Competition: The Hurling wall ball competition takes place on Saturday mornings up to October 24 at Cloghan. The competition is aimed at all U-12, U-14 & U-16 players within all the hurling clubs in Monaghan. Players will practice the basic skills in hurling and then take part in wall-ball skill drills. Players will finish by playing each other in a one-wall hurling competition at the end of each session. The purpose of the session is to give players ideas on how they might practice using a wall and also to give them an opportunity to add a variety of new hurling skills to their game.
