Our seniors travelld to Aughnamullen on Saturday afternoon. This was our first outing since been crowned championship winners. Aughnamullen opened the scoring in the first minute, Barry Mc Ginn opened our account in the 3rd minute. We registered a futher 2 points one from Colin Walshe and one from Barry McBennett to leave it all square with 10 minutes gone. Aughnamullen struck goal in the 15th minute to give them a 4 point lead. Barry Mc Ginn pointed a free and points from Darren Connolly and Niall Conolly levelled the scoring with 5 minutes to play in the first half, then in the 28th minute Paul struck for goal to leave  it 1-7 to 1-4 at half time to Doohamlet. The second half Barry Mc Ginn hit the back of the net with 2 minutes gone, aughnamullen responded well and kicked the next 3 points, Emmet Mc Manus kicked over next  point to leave 5 points between the teams. Doohamlet found another gear in the final quater and another goal by Niall Connolly with 3 minutes left on the clock left us to run out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 3-10 to 1-8. Team: James Casey, Damien Ward, Kevin Mc Ardle, Jason Mc Elroy, Conor Marray, Colin Walshe, Emmet Mc Manus, Ciaran Mc Manus, JOhnny Duffy, Gavin King, Darren Connolly, Jamie Walshe, Barry Mc Bennett, Naill Connolly, Barry Mc Ginn.

Although Ireland’s hopes of appearing in a rugby World Cup Semi Final are over for this year, our own local young man Oisin O Neill will still take to the pitch in Twickenham this weekend. Oisín  will be the match ball delivery person ahead of the game between Argentina and Australia this Sunday 25th of October at 4pm. This once in a lifetime opportunity was afforded to him by his cousin Jason Roddy from Buninadden, Co. Sligo. Jason who won a competition earlier in the year with DHL, is a keen rugby player himself with Carrick On Shannon. As part of the prize Jason got the opportunity to take an 8-15 year old with him to act as ball bearer and Oisín was the one in the family who fitted the bill! Their prize will include VIP match tickets, flights, two nights accommodation and all transfers along with DHL rugby kits. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and one which will never be forgotten. Enjoy every minute and we will all be watching out for you.
