The Cube:

The eagerly anticipated fundraiser The Cube was held last Sunday night. The contestants all rose to the challenges for the first two rounds. The final 8 battled it out for the last 2 spots in the final. Simon Finnegan and Dean Keenan successfully made it to the final with Simon Finnegan the winner who took all and Dean the runner up. Congratulations to Simon who scooped first prize. The historic double winning 2015 Corduff Minor team was honoured and presented with their medals while they was also a cheque presented to the Crossan family the proceeds form a match at Corduff. A massive thank you to all the contestants for taking part and to all their sponsors. Thanks also to everyone who took an ad in the programme,  to those who donated auction items or sponsored raffle prizes , to all who helped on the night, not forgetting the compares Pat and Paddy and to all who supported the event by attending on the night and to the hardworking committee who worked tirelessly over the recent weeks to put the show together. Without everyone on board this wouldn’t have been the success it was.

Ladies:

It was all about the ladies at the weekend .

Seniors:

Senior League action continued on Saturday with Corduff away to Latton in what was a very important match with a place in the semi-final at stake. Corduff set the pace from the throw-in making a very impressive start and storming ahead. Barbara Ward, Eva Woods and Laura McEnaney were clinical with their finishing up front. Naomi Cogan was very influential at mid-field .Corduff’s dominance continued in the second despite a comeback from Latton. Sarah McEnaney did a master class in marking and Ciara McEnaney made a comeback after a lengthy injury. Dearbhla Callan was introduced to Senior football when Hannah Finegan was substituted due to injury.

Corduff eased to victory and booked their place in the semi-final against O’Neills on a date to be confirmed. Congratulations to the team and management on reaching the final stages of this competition.

Minors:

After drawing with Killeevan in the Div 3 semi final last week they had to do it all again on Monday in Killeevan. The conditions were far from ideal for this encounter with driving wind and rain. Killeevan were quicker to settle and dominated play in the first quarter going 1-02 up before Corduff eventually registered their first score in the 15th minute. This was the start of a dramatic comeback by Corduff as they quickly reduced the arrears and by the 19th minute they were leading by 2 points . With Elena McEnaney,Eva Woods,Keely Mee and Hannah Finegan all on the score board there was nothing to separate the side at the interval  with both sides  2-03 .

With the rain beating down at the restart and the wind at their backs the Corduff players grew into the game with their inspirationsl captain Alana Kernan driving them on from the goals. With Corduff’s super defending in the backs and clinical finishing up front by Eva Woods and Elena McEnaney they continued to outscore the hosts by adding to their account finishing comfortable winners on a score line of 6-10 to 3-04. Credit goes to the girls for putting in a tremendous effort throughout. Congratulations to everyone involved especially the managers. The team was as follows Alana Kernan, Lorna Hand, Fearbhla Callan, Naoise Cunningham, Eibhlin Clinton, Niamh Callan, Sarah McEnaney, Hannah FInegan, Chloe Finnegan, Eva Woods, Sadhbh Cassidy, Elena Mc Enaney and Keely Mee, Jessic McMahon, Ellie Comiskey and Amy Marron. The final is this Sunday at 1:30pm in Carrickmacross and we are calling on everyone to come out and support these players and management who have all put in a massive effort to reach the final.

The Cube:

Well done to Laura Mc Enaney who represented the Ladies Club and reached  the last 8 in the cube on Sunday night. Laura narrowly missed out on a spot in the final but represented her club proudly!
