Blackhill Notes

By Majella Boyd Wed 21st Oct

Dr. Ward Cup: With attentions very much now fixed on the league, the semi final pairings have been finalised. Blackhill travel to Killanny to take on the locals for the right to progress to the final with Rockcorry and Sean Mc Dermotts playing in the other. Killanny have had a very successful league campaign seeing them top the table and will no doubt be stern opposition on Sunday. This match will throw in at 2pm this Sunday the 25th of October. Extra time will be played if necessary.

Emerald’s Weekly Draw: 1st Claire Boylan, Donaghmoyne. 2nd Emmet Mc Donagh, 12 The Cresent. 3rd Anna Mc Eleavy, Cullaville.

Céad Míle Fáilte: An official welcome to our new barman Brian Maguire. The man with the Scottish accent has settled in well to the club already. Rumour has it he even passed his waltzing test at the Young at Heart last Monday evening. Wishing you continued success in your new role.

Monaghan GAA Coaching Conference:  This years theme is “Successful clubs;by chance or by design” , so all the workshops and presentations will have a relevance to developing our club and club coaches. This years conference will be both practical & theory based. To name but a few, the presenters include; Dr. Eugene Young (Director of Coaching & Games in Ulster GAA), Oisin McConville ( Former Crossmaglen & Armagh senior player) , Micheal Glover (Ulster Regional Development Hurling Officer) & Ryan Porter (Monaghan Senior Team Coach). The conference will target all club coaches from Juvenile to senior level and anybody with an interest in coaching and promoting Gaelic Games. I would implore anyone that is involved or would like to get involved with the development of coaching within Blackhill to put your name forward to join the other members already going.
