McElvaney Waste & Recycling Intermediate Football Championship Final
Doohamlet 1-11 Carrickmacross 0-12 11/10/15
Doohamlet won their third IFC title since 2010 after a strong second-half performance saw them get the better of Carrickmacross in Castleblayney on Sunday. Carrick were the better team in the first half, at the end of which they led by 0-8 to 0-4, with Stephen Gollogly and Peter O’Hanlon leading the scoring, but Doohamlet emerged like a different team after the restart, with 1-3 from Man of the Match Barry McBennett inspiring their resurgence. Carrick still led by 0-11 to 0-8 going into the final ten minutes, but an excellent goal from McBennett and points by Colin Walshe, McBennett and Barry McGinn powered them over the line. Both teams finished with 14 men after county seniors Walshe and Gollogly were dismissed late on.
