On Wednesday the 28th of October, Monaghan Coaching & Games organised a training session for 6th Class students from the 2014/2015 Football After Schools Programme.

During the programme last year, the group completed a 6 week programme of skills and game based activities in one of three different regions throughout the county. Over the summer, the group was pulled into together to take part in a all-county training session in Cloghan and once again the group was pull into together again to take part in all-county training day in Cloghan over their Halloween holidays. The session focused on the kick pass and executing the tackle in the correct manner. This was done through drills and games based activities. All the players seemed to enjoy the session and hopefully the group will be pulled back into together in the next month or so.

The After Schools Programme for 2015/2016 will commence after the Halloween holidays for boys in 6th Class in the Northern and Mid Monaghan Regions of the county. All schools within these regions have already received information about the programme. The North region will take place in St Macartan’s College between 4pm-5.30pm every Wednesday for 6 weeks starting on the 4th of November. The Mid Monaghan Region will take place in Our Ladys Castleblayney between 4pm-5.30pm every Thursday for 6 weeks starting on the 5th of November. If your son attended the 5th class After School Programme last year, they should have already received a text message about the programme but if they didn’t take part in it but would like to this year, they will need to fill out the registration form and send it back into the Monaghan Coaching Office as soon as possible. You can download the registration form by clicking on the link below.
