Last Saturday, the 5th of September, the Monaghan U15 Football Development Squad travelled to Templeport county Cavan to take part in an Ulster Blitz.
The team have been working hard over the past number of months in preparation for this blitz. This is a busy time of the year with the business end of the club season kicking into action so it’s a credit to all the players for continuing to show their commitment through this busy period.
The team have progressed well throughout the year, showing continued signs of improvement in every game they have played.
On Saturday the team had two games against Donegal and Cavan. First up was Donegal and after a good battle the team came out the right side of a two point win on a score line of 1-05 to 0-06. In the second game the team played the hosts Cavan. After a strong start the Monaghan boys came out the winners on a score line of 4-06 to 1-06. A number of players were drafted into the squad who showed good form with their club teams this year and all acquitted themselves very well on Saturday and we look forward to working with them over the next couple of months.
The team still has one game left to play this year before the focus switches to the winter Strength and Conditioning Programme.
We would just like to take this opportunity to thank the players and managers for their dedication and commitment so far but they need to continue this going forward if they want to progress to play county minors and beyond. The management team will be in touch with the next time and date for training.
The panel which travelled to the blitz is as follows:
Padraig Hughes, Conor Monaghan, Robert McCluskey, Christopher Hanratty, Tiernan McSkean, Conor McKeown, Ryan O’Toole, Aaron Sherry, Kian O’Connor, Padraig McMahon, Sean Treanor, Charlie Counihan, Eli Ward, James McCaughey, Craig Callan, Pauric O’Brien, Tadgh Kirk O’Callaghan, Ryan O’Neill, Cormac McKenna, Liam Og Murray, Eoghan Treanor Tiarnan McCourt and Andrew Woods
