Emyvale Notes

By Majella Boyd Thu 17th Sep

Sympathy: is extended to the Mc Gonnell family, Glaslough, on the recent untimely passing of Adam Jebb husband of Stephanie Mc Gonnell.  Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

All Ireland Ticket Draw: The draw for the all-Ireland football tickets took place after the U14 final in Tully. Winners are in order of draw Padraig Treanor, Philip Mc Kenna, Jack Kelly and Niall Moe Mc Kenna.

Intermediate Championship: Emyvale exited this year’s Intermediate Championship when they were beaten by a point by Tyholland on Sunday last in Monaghan. Tyholland opened the scoring with a point & then Emyvale hit 1 – 2 to go four up but that was as good as it got for Emyvale as they went in at halftime leading by the bare minimum. Tyholland started the second half hitting three unanswered points to put them two ahead & Emyvale were playing catch up for the rest of the game. It was a lack lustre performance & they never played as well as they can & Tyholland held on to win 0:14 Emyvale 1:10. They must now concentrate on the league & they play Aughnamullen on Saturday evening in Tully so hopefully they can get back on the winning track.

Emyvale team & scorers: Gerard Mc Caffrey, Mervyn Browne, John Flannery, Garreth Mc Quaid 0:2, Karl Mc Quaid, Gregory Devlin, Aaron Loughran, Colin Hughes, Michael Flannery 0:1. Conor Bellew, Ryan Mc Anespie, David Bellew, David Mc Allister 0:2, Daniel Mc Mahon 0:4, Gavin Mc Kernan 1:0. Subs. James Bellew,   James Mc Allister 0:1, Jonathan Morrough.

Sunday 27th Sep Carrickmacross Emmets GFC v Emyvale Intermediate Football League Carrickmacross Emmets 12:30 PM

Juveniles: U-14 Emyvale played Truagh in the Division 2 Shield Final last Saturday in Clones. In what was very much a game of two halves Emyvale went in at half time trailing by eight points, but playing some good football in the second half went into the final minutes of the game leading by three points, Truagh rallied well in the closing stages scoring 1-02 without reply and running out eventual winners on a score line of 3 10 to 4 05. Congratulation to Truagh on their victory. Well done to all our players, managers, coaches, mentors, medical staff and parents for their commitment throughout the year.
