Intermediate Championship: Emyvale and Doohamlet played out a draw in the Intermediate Championship quarter final last Saturday evening in Clontibret and they must do it all again on Sunday next in Scotstown with a throw in time of 1.30pm. Emyvale got off to a good start but Doohamlet settled in and the sides went in level at halftime with six points each. Doohamlet went three up at the start of the second half but Emyvale battled hard and levelled matters and the teams were evenly matched and Doohamlet went into injury time leading by a point but Daniel Mc Mahon scored a point from a free to level matters at eleven points each. The disappointing aspect of this game was the lack of protection that some of the Emyvale players got and it was fortunate that some of them didn’t pick up a serious injury.
Team & scorers: Gerard Mc Caffrey, Mervyn Browne, John Flannery, Garreth Mc Quaid 0:3, Karl Mc Quaid, Darren Mc Kernan, Gregory Devlin, James Bellew, Colin Hughes, Conor Bellew, Ryan Mc Anespie 0:1, David Bellew, David Mc Allister 0:2, Daniel Mc Mahon 0:4, Michael Flannery 0:1. U16 Championship: Congratulations to Emyvale U16 Team on winning the Division Two Championship on Thursday evening last. The final was played in Oram against Magheracloone who were firm favourites for this competition and in the first half, they played the better football and went in at halftime leading by four points. Whatever was said by Manager Enda O’Brien during the break, Emyvale came out with all guns blazing and from the throw in went on the attack. Karl Gallagher worked hard to dispossess the corner back and the ball fell to Robbie Mc Allister who made no mistake in finding the back of the net. They followed this up with a point before Robbie got on the ball again. Everyone was screaming at him to take his point but he had other ideas and blasted it to the corner of the net. They hit five more unanswered points to go eight points up before Magheracloone started to forge ahead again. They brought it back to four points and then Karl Gallagher got a vital goal to put Emyvale seven up again. Magheracloone scored another goal but Matthew Mc Quaid cancelled that out with another for Emyvale and Stephan Mc Quaid got the final point to leave the final score Emyvale 4:11 Magheracloone 2:12. This was a great team performance with man of the match, Robbie Mc Allister playing a captain’s role in playing a brilliant game. The team management of Enda O’Brien, Francie Mc Quaid, Gregory Devlin, Brendan Mc Nally, Medic: Padraig Treanor, Physio: Matthew Gibbons are to be congratulated as well. Team & scorers: Eoghan Treanor, Ryan Treanor, Aaron Sherry, Kieran Colton, Ryan Kelly, Calum Mc Kenna, Ryan O’Neill, Michael O’Brien, Karl Gallagher, Stephan Mc Quaid 0:6, Jordan Hughes, Niall Mc Kenna, Robbie Mc Allister 2:5. Subs. Matthew Mc Quaid 1:0, Andrew O’Connor.
