Seniors:

Last Saturday evening our Seniors took on Castleblayney in Clontibret in the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship. This was a very tough encounter with both sides working very hard to get the win. At half time there was very little between the sides, but in the second half a more determined, more clinical Castleblayney side put Donaghmoyne to the sword as they went on to record an 8 point win.

Minors:

Our Minors season continued this  week as the lads were in League action when they took on Magheracloone in the Division One League  Final in Carrickmacross. This was obviously a very important fixture for these young players and it took a while for the Donaghmoyne lads to settle into their stride. But once they got going and settled into the game, both them and their opposition Magheracloone, put on an enthralling display of football.  At half time Donaghmoyne went in behind by 4 points after a Magheracloone goal just on the stroke of half time. After the restart they extended their lead to 8 points and many of the large Donaghmoyne support thought it was all over. Thankfully though the lads on the pitch had other ideas as Donaghmoyne outscored their opponents by 3-5 to 2 points in the final quarter and went on to record the most memorable of comebacks. Donaghmoyne were crowned Minor Division One League Champions for the second year in a row, a tremendous achievement for the club and more importantly this group of players. Congratulations to all the players and management on what was a brilliant win. The hard work doesn’t stop there though however as the lads now have to prepare for a County Final date with Truagh in Clones in 6 or 7 weeks time.

U14s:

league semi final. Throw in is at 12 o clock in Donaghmoyne on Saturday afternoon. Please come down to the pitch this Saturday to support the team as they look to set up a league final meeting with neighbours Toome.

Mini Fontenoys:

Mini Fontenoys training continues in Donaghmoyne this Saturday morning. Training is from 11 to 12, weather permitting

Congratulations:

Congratulations to our very own Cormac O Connor and Oran Martin who were part of the victorious Monaghan U16 Team who recaptured the Buncrana Cup a few weekends ado. They have done their club, their families and more importantly themselves proud in the County Jersey and we have no doubt that they will continue to do so in the years to come.

Well Done:

Well done to all our young players who got their Leaving Cert results recently. Hopefully all are happy with their results and if not, well it’s not the end of the World!

Ladies

Seniors:

Unlucky for some but not for the Donaghmoyne Ladies Senior Team as the girls captured their 13th County Championship in a row on Saturday last in great fashion by defeating Emyvale by 9 points. Following the great win, on Sunday evening the Intermediate team went out and captured the Intermediate County Title after beating Truagh  in what was a thrilling finish to a brilliant game as Donaghmoyne won by 2 points. Two Finals, Two Wins, in Two Days, not bad at all. It seems that there is no end to the success of this fantastic bunch of girls. This is without doubt a brilliant record. A great result for long serving Manager Francie Coleman, all the players and everyone involved in the club. Well done to all.

U14s:

The U14 girls had two games in the last week. On Thursday night our B team took on Corduff and unfortunately were beaten. Following that though the A team took on Killeeven on Saturday evening in Donaghmoyne and thankfully the came out with a good win. They now await the draw for the semi finals.
