’Monaghan Coaching and games’ ran a hurling summer camp which catered for boys aged 10-13 from 18th-20th August. This new hurling initiative was called the ‘U13 Farney Hurling Academy’. During the 3 day hurling camp, players received a great programme of coaching which focused on all the skills in hurling as well as an introduction to flexibility & strength programmes. There was Guest coaches from Monaghan senior hurling team and Ulster GAA. We also had top Intercounty players such as Ruairi Convery (Derry), Ryan Gaffney (Armagh) and Jack Guiney (Wexford) in attendance to coach the players. We also got video messages from top Intercounty players around Ireland in which they had words of advice on how to become a better hurling player. We had 60 players at the camp and these players will be progressing to next year’s U14 development squads. Hurling within Monaghan looks bright with these talented players coming up. Well done to all involved.
