Saturday the 5th of September is the date for the Investec sponsored Shabra Charity Cycle.
Remember there are a few different distances;
- 10k family fun route
- 50k cycle – relatively flat course
- 100k cycle – a more challenging test but very manageable
The event starts and finishes at the Glencarn Hotel in Castleblayney – (all distances) and both the 50k and 100k have a food and water stop at the Shabra Stables.
Entry fee is just €25 and this goes entirely to the charity and will be used to source a specialist DNA testing machine which amongst other things can detect the genetic mutations that cause Sudden Infant Death and Sudden Adult Death. This equipment is not currently available in Ireland and testing for these genetic defects can take up to 36 months currently – and obviously that is too long!
You can as it says on the poster register online or alternatively go to
We in Monaghan GAA encourage people of all ages to participate in this worthy cause. Also please share this post so the more people know the better. On the day we would also appreciate people not taking part in the cycle to come out and cheer on the cyclists and make sure to wear your Monaghan Gear.
So a great cause!
