GAA Level 1 now included in successful Moving On Sport and Recreation Course”
The Moving On adult education programme has received a major boost as they will for the first time this year add the GAA Level One certificate to their Major Award in Sport and Recreation. The course offers participants a full time sporting education with modules including Health Related Fitness, Food and Nutrition, Communications and IT Skills etc. The course offers a mix of level 4 and level 5 modules with large parts of each day out on the field developing practical skills as they work towards gaining the QQI Level 4 Major Award in Sport and Recreation.
The course is aimed at those currently in receipt of Social Welfare and would like to avail of the additional academic and financial supports (childcare included) while also getting a host of coaching/ sporting qualifications. Past students have progressed to a host of further education institutes and employment both in Ireland and America.
Monaghan GAA have been of great support to the programme with participants availing of expert training in football & hurling coaching. Participants have also been given the opportunity to referee GO Games and coach in the very successful summer camps.
