Minors
Our Minors welcomed St. Patricks to Magheracloone on Tuesday evening last to play for a place in the division one league final. This was expected to be a tough physical battle and we were not disappointed. Half-time score Magheracloone 1-6 St. Patricks 2-2. It was a very close encounter from start to finish with the lead changing hands on a few occasions in the final ten minutes. Allan Kieran was in fine form he rallied well throughout and in the final minutes was duly rewarded with two fine scores to put the teams level. It was Luke Mc Kenna who got the final point of the match in the 27th minute and as the full-time whistle sounded the scoreboard read Magheracloone 1-12 St. Patricks 2-8.
Credit must go to the younger players on this team who have confidence surpassing their youthful years and they will still be playing minor for a further three years. Thanks to St.Patricks for a superb game we know it is hard to lose by such a narrow margin. We wish our lads the very best of luck in the final against a formidable Donaghmoyne team who have been untouchable over the last two years. However favourites have been beaten before and we will hope for a top class 60 minutes of football from this Maghaeracloone team in the final. We know they are capable of it.
Team: Jack Kirk, Peter Finnegan, Cian Conroy, Conor Mc Keown, Ronan Burns, Liam Óg Murray, Jonathon Donnelly, Allan Kieran, Niall Marron, Luke Mc Kenna, Paudie Mc Mahon, Daniel Babington, Barry Kieran, James Marron, David Martin.

Senior Championship
The countdown is on to the start of the Senior Championship and all roads will lead to Iniskeen this Sunday 23rd August to see the Mitchells take on Clontibret at 7pm in the first round. We wish the team and management every success in this years championship.
Senior League
With two matches played in the past week Magheracloone seniors have strengthened their position on the league table. A win against Castleblaney and a draw with Truagh earned them three more points as a reward for their admirable work rate and belief in their game. They will hope to keep up this pace and bag another few points when they meet Donaghmoyne at home on 19th September.
Buncrana Cup
The Buncrana Cup (Ulster U16 Inter County Development Squads) final took place in Donegal on Saturday last. Monaghan had a convincing win over Armagh on a score line of 4-12 to 1-4 in the semi-final. In the final Derry & Monaghan played out a brilliant game of high intensity football with all the skills of the game on display. Monaghan came out on top in the end final score Derry 2-7 Monaghan 1-12. Well done and congratulations to all concerned especially to our own Barry Kieran who is part of this U16 squad.
