Lotto Results. The numbers drawn in the Club Lotto on Monday, 27th July were 11, 15, 17 and 25. The Jackpot was not won this week. The four winners in the Lucky Dip were Mattie Morgan, c/o Eugene Cauldwell, Fintan Kellett, Magheracloone, James Cunningham, Corlea and Jack, Jamie and Sean O’Hara, Carrickmacross. The next draw will take place in the clubrooms on Monday, 3rd, August and the Jackpot will be 5,100 euro.
Results. Under-21 Championship. Magheracloone made the short journey to Killanny on Friday evening last to face Donaghmoyne in the final of the Under-21 Division One competition. The team was very well prepared by Damien Freeman and Paudie Finnegan with some assistance from Club chairman, Bernard Freeman.
A strong first half performance meant that Magheracloone had built up a substantial lead by half-time. The score at this stage was 2-6 to 0-3. The team continued in the same vein in the second half and ran out winners on a final score-line of 3-12 to 0-9. The winning panel included Jack Kirk, James Carolan, Paul McArdle, James Lambe,(captain), Cian Freeman, Killian Rudden, Sean Finnegan, Daniel Hand, Michael Metzger, Jonathan Coleman, Alan Kieran, Luke McKenna, Paudie McMahon, Daniel Babington, Sean Marron, Alan McCahey, Luke McKenna, Donnacha Kindlon, Peter Finnegan, Conall Rooney, Daniel Irwin, Ciaran McClory, Damien Rudden, Paudie Kirk, Oisin Conroy and David Kirk.
Under-16. The championship semi-final took place on Thursday evening last with the opposition being provided by Clones. After a very close and high-scoring encounter, Magheracloone came out on top by 6-21 to 5-15.
Minors. The Magheracloone minor team travelled to Carrickmacross last week and defeated the home team in the quarter final of the Division One championship by 2-15 to 0-5. This team will be hopeful of taking the next step towards the final and will be aiming to win the county title.
Fixtures. A round of senior football league games is due to be played next week and Magheracloone will host league leaders, Scotstown, on Wednesday evening at 7.30. The panel has been training well over the past few weeks and the recent victory of the Under-21 team will give a great confidence boost to the team as the preparations continue for this encounter.
Under-16 League. The next round of the league is due for decision on Thursday evening with an away game versus Doohamlet. This division two encounter is timed to start at 7.30.
Under-8/Under10 Blitz. A very successful blitz for this age-group was held on Wednesday 15th July. The feedback from the visitors was extremely positive and the Juvenile Committee wish to thank all those who made sandwiches and buns and served the teas for the occasion.
Under-10 News. Two Under-10 teams travelled to Truagh for the recent competition and one team reached the shield semi-final. Thanks to Francis Fox, Eamonn McKeown and Padraig Duffy for their efforts with these two teams. It’s great that the club were in a position to field two teams in this competition.
Cúl Camp. Over 120 young people took part in last week’s Cúl Camp in Magheracloone. This was the biggest number of players to attend the summer camp since it began. Coach, Martin Corey, was high in his praise for the commitment and behaviour of those attending and stated that these young people were a credit to their club and their parents. The skills learned at these camps will help the players to achieve great things for the club in the years to come. Congratulations to the players, both male and female, who helped out at the camp and played their part in making it such a success. These young people were very enthusiastic is passing on the skills that they had first acquired at these camps in recent years.
Under-16 Development Squad. Congratulations to Barry Kieran who was part of the Under-16 Development squad at the recent Gerry Reilly Memorial Tournament. He played his part in Monaghan win and we look forward to seeing him in the county colours in the future.
