Under 12’s

Patrick Sarsfields took on Sean MacDiarmada in the Shield semi final on Friday evening last. Patrick Sarsfields took control from the outset and dominated the game from start to finish. The final scoreline was 8-06 to 1-07. The final against Killanny, originally scheduled for Saturday 15th August, has been postponed, time and venue to be confirmed, but it may be next week. Details will go by text when known.

Under 16’s

Patrick Emmetts took on Tyholland in the last of the league games on Thursday evening last in Aghabog. This turned out to be a real end to end game in every respect. Tyholland started the stronger and led at one stage by ten points. The score at half time had Tyholland leading by 2-11 to 1-06, an eight point margin. Patrick Emmetts fought back very well in the second half but it took to the 29th minute before we took the lead for the first time. Tyholland levelled in injury time but Patrick Emmetts were not to be denied the win, and scored the winner with the last kick of the game. The final score was 5-09 (24) to 3-14 (23). The Cup Semi Final has been set for Aghabog on Thursday 20th August at 7:15 pm. Toome and Tyholland tied for third place which required a coin toss to determine 3rd and 4th placings. Toome won the toss and therefore Tyholland were placed 4th. Consequently, Patrick Emmetts as table toppers, will now play Tyholland in this Semi Final. All support appreciated.

The Championship Final against Toome is set for Thursday 27th August at 7:15, venue to be confirmed.

Ladies GAA

A great win for Monaghan ladies against rivals Cavan on Saturday last gets their campaign back on track. They now meet Dublin in Clones on Saturday 22nd August.

All Ireland Quarter final,

On Saturday evening last the hopes of the county were dashed when Monaghan failed to get the better of old rivals Tyrone. While all of the large number of Currin / Monaghan supporters in the 62,000 crowd, who travelled from home and abroad, including Chelmsford and Balham,  were bitterly disappointed, there is no doubt that the disappointment felt by the players and management was indeed an awful lot greater. While disappointed we should not be dejected and when ‘the dust settles’ and we all reflect on what has transpired this year. We will realise how fortunate we were to have followed our own team to a second Ulster title out of three finals. For many years this was only a pipe dream but thanks to all involved for making it a reality.
