Minors
Last week in Latton, in front of a bumper crowd, the minors had a super win over Doohamlet in the championship semi final, finally getting on top towards the end of a pulsating game that was a credit to both teams. They will now play Emerald Sarsfield’s in the final. They continued their league against Latton this week on Tuesday evening last.
Under 16’s,
The U- 16’s had a good win away to Rockcorry last week on a scoreline of 1-10 to 3-22. Our next game is in Aghabog against Tyholland this evening (Thursday) with a throw in time of 7:30. This is the last of the league games prior to the play offs and we are four points clear of Tyholland, Toome and Sean McDermott’s who are all tied in second place.
Under 14’s
Our u-14’s also travelled to Rockcorry last week and also came away with a win on a scoreline of 0-11 to 2-14. Our next game is at home in Scotshouse on Thursday 13th August at 7:30 against Carrick. We are currently second in the table, two points clear of Carrick.
Under 12’s
We play Sean McDermott’s on Friday 7th August in Scotshouse at 7:15pm in the Shield semi final. Support in all games in greatly appreciated.
The Under 6’s, Under 8’s and Under 10’s
After training last Saturday morning in Scotshouse our younger members took part in take a ‘Penalty for Autism’, organised by Aidan Rudden. Thanks to Ray McCarron and Jack McCarron for standing into goals to face the onslaught from a fiercely competitive bunch of upcoming stars. Ray and Jack also took penalties, (neither scored!), for autism and nominated others to follow up. Remember parents, you have been nominated so take your penalty, nominate, donate and post your video on-line! Please support this worthy cause, text Penalty to 50300 to donate €2.
‘Rising Stars’,
We wish the best of luck to Tiarnan Kearns, one of our younger stars, who is representing the Cavan/Monaghan schoolboys league this week in Galway, in the Macron Cup, a competition for emerging talent. We also wish, one of our more established senior team stalwarts, Dara Brady, all the best in England this week.
Ladies GAA
Monaghan senior ladies hope to get back on track on Saturday next when they take on Cavan in Breffni Park at 5.15. Once again the administrators of ladies sport have ‘shot themselves in the foot’ in fixing this game at the same time as the men play in Croke Park. Surely someone could / should not have allowed this to happen. Best of luck to all the girls and to our own Ellen in particular.
All Ireland Quarter final,
On Saturday evening next all Currin GAA folk will be joining with Monaghan supporters from home and abroad on the road to Croke Park for another tilt at Tyrone, with a place in the All Ireland semi final at stake. It’s the place all GAA people want to be heading for in August and we have been privileged for the third year in a row to be going there, cheering on our own. We especially wish our two men the best of luck.
