Under the blue sky of Monaghan town; the green of the Emmets shone brightly as the under-twelve (Division 5) team captured the Shield Cup in brilliant style on Tuesday evening! They laid the foundation of a comprehensive victory in the opening half when they led by 5.04 to 1.00. There was no way back for the Emyvale men as the victors kept the comfortable margin to the end when captain; Luke McSharry lifted the trophy. Emmets Fixtures!  This Friday evening the Reserve team play in the final of the Reserve League 2B Final against Blackhill in Oram at 7.00pm: After losing the Championship final it would be a good consolation to capture this prize especially since it is sponsored by our own prodigy Pat Cassidy and his company Platinum Tanks! We can do it with the help of the Emmet Supporters; so make sure you travel in numbers and support the team. On Sunday at 5.30pm the Intermediate team; fresh from their splendid championship win over Drumhowan; play host to league leaders Emyvale in Emmet Park. Having won the away game the Emmets will be looking for another win to keep the momentum going!  On next Tuesday evening another final for the Emmets when the under-sixteen team plays Inniskeen in the championship (Division 1) decider which is due to commence at 7.15 pm in Pairc Eanna, Killanny. This local match should create good interest and we hope that the Emmet supporters will again turn out in crowds!

Emmets Congratulations!  News has spread from afar of the engagement of our exiled patriot Shane Crosby who has finally committed himself to a settled life with his lovely bride to be Caitríona! On behalf of the Emmets club we send our congratulations to the happy couple who are in Boston at the moment and we share their thoughts and aspirations for a fantastic future together! Shane is a true Emmet and flies the flag where ever he roams; he has always shown a passion for the home club an enthusiasm he has demonstrated both on and off the pitch! an enthusiasm which he has demonstrated on many occasions both on and off the field. ome club; an enthusiasm which he has demonstrated on many occasions both on and off the field. He has some similarities to our great hero Robert Emmet; highly educated; slight resemblance; fighting spirit; beautiful girlfriend. To use a phrase from Emmet’s romantic interest; “You could not see Miss Curran and not help liking her…her look was the mildest and the softest and the sweetest look you ever saw” Well the same applies Caitríona:
PS. We look forward to seeing you both at the Intermediate final!!!!
