Emmets Championship Begins! On Saturday evening there is a double bill of Intermediate Football Championship games in Inniskeen where Corduff and Aughnamullen will cross hands at 5.30pm while the Emmets and Drumhowan line-out at 7.00pm. Of course; our interests rest with the latter game; which commences a series of competitive matches in both league and championship for the Emmets. In the league encounter back in April the Emmets were victorious over Drumhowan by a comfortable margin but that result means nothing now; anyway championship football is a different ball-game with a different approach and a different atmosphere: That is why we are calling on all Emmet supporters, families and friends to make the short journey to Grattan Park to support the team in their pursuit of a place in the second round of the competition. The team have been working hard all year with good consequences and we hope that the trend continues for this game; plus your encouragement will greatly assist their effort.  We wish the team-management and our complete panel of player’s a successful sixty minutes of football and hopefully a good result!

Emmets Launch Strictly! On Saturday night; all will be revealed as the dancers and sponsors are announced to the public for the first time! A great night’s craic is anticipated and if the training and preparation is anything to go by; then there will be some good fun! “Dancing with the feet is one thing but dancing with the heart is another” that is why these Emmet dancers deserve your support! “After all, Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did; she just did it backwards and in high heels” So after the Championship match in Inniskeen (or sooner) make your way to Shirley Arms where all the action, music and entertainment is due to commence at 8 o’clock and remember all the proceeds of “Strictly” go to the Emmets development on the Donaghmoyne Road where the new buildings are almost complete! Admission €5:

Emmets Sympathy! The club wish to express our sympathies to two families who have provided the Emmets club with many players of distinction over the years at both juvenile and adult level. We send our condolences to the Gartlan family on the death of Cissie Gartlan, Ardee Road who died last week; especially to her sons Kevin, Pat and daughters Angela, Mary, Nuala and Sally on the passing of their beloved mother. Many of Cissie’s grandchildren donned the wearing of the green with success and hopefully some of her great grandchildren will do the same! We would also like to sympathise with the Sherry family on the death of Róisin Sherry Magheraboy Road. Róisin grandmother of currant Emmets Intermediate player Eoin Sherry (Jun) and mother of Eoin (Sen) who for many years played a stirring role as a very successful defender in the colours of the Emmets; we also commiserate with Pat, Yvonne, Dermot, Fionnula and Máire on the loss of their much-loved mother.

Emmets Lotto! The club lotto was held on Monday night in the Emmet Centre where the numbers drawn were 07, 08, 10 and 18 there was no outright winner but the following players won “Keep it Local” vouchers; €50, Gerry Kierans Valley Close; €20, Sandra McCooey Ballybay Road; €20, Brian Hanratty Cuchullain Terrace; €10, Martin McNally Ballybay Road; Keep playing Lotto to keep supporting the club!

Emmets Summer Camp! What a turnout; over one hundred and twenty children attended the four day camp in Emmet Park and the Phoenix Centre last week. Judging by the response of the parents they were very pleased with the arrangements and several complimented administrator Declan Finnegan and his team of coaches on another successful venture. The atmosphere was electric as the numerous groups of young Emmets; of various ages; played together and partook in the tremendous fun and games that went on throughout the week; concluding with a wonderful barbecue on Friday afternoon. The club acknowledges the great work of the camp team; the cooperation of the parents/guardians; but above all the splendid participation of all the talented and skilful kids of Carrickmacross!
