JFC: Scotstown 2-09 Aghabog 1-09
We bowed out of the Junior Championship at the Quarter Final stage last Saturday evening in Clontibret. This was a close game throughout with two quick fire goals for Scotstown proving the difference. While we did draw level in the 2nd half, Scotstown took their opportunities that little bit better to run out winners.
JFL Fixtures: We were due to play Toome away last night Wednesday and we play the same opponents at home next Wednesday evening in an unplayed fixture.
Sports Day: Our annual sports day is on Sunday 30th August starting at 12.30 due to the All Ireland football semi – final at 3.30. Meeting in the clubrooms at 9.30 next Tuesday night. All members interested in helping out are requested to attend.
Banquet: Plans are ongoing to make this a memorable night for the club. Tickets are 50 euro each and admission will be by ticket only. It is hoped to have the tickets on sale well before the 24th October. White shirt and the Aghabog tie for the men, while the ladies can splash out on a new outfit for the occasion.
Sympathy: The club would like to extend our sincere sympathy to Patsy, Gerry and the entire McCabe family, Lismagonway on the recent death of Mrs Alice McCabe.
Juveniles:
U10’s: Our next outing for U10’s is to Clones for an All-County blitz on Sat 22 August.
U12’s: Well done to our lads who put in a gallant performance in the U12 Division 4 semi-final recently. This was a close encounter and a very entertaining game of football but unfortunately our efforts were not enough to stop a strong Corduff side in fine form and we wish them well in the final. Our lads can take pride in their performance in this and all the games in the league – to finish in the top 4 out of the 9 teams is something to be very proud of, and also a great incentive for the future. Well done lads! Team: Stephen Quinn, Daithi Carolan, Dermot Mc Glone, Aidan Leonard, Tadhg Cosgrove, Paudi Gleeson, Caoimhin Sherry, Ben O Brien, Cormac O Hanlon, Connor Leonard, Jamie Duffy, Finn Howell, Gerry Kelly and James Cusack.
Minor: Our Minors (Patrick Emmetts) were due to play Killanny in the League Final in Castleblayney on Tuesday last. Check for result elsewhere.
U16: Patrick Emmetts play Toome in the U16 Championship Final next Thursday 27th August at 7:15pm in Rockcorry.
U14 Result: Patrick Emmett 5-20 Carrickmacross 6-03
Our U14 are currently second in the league table and are due to play Scotstown in Scotshouse this Saturday 22nd August at 12pm in their final league game.
Congratulations: to Oisin Gleeson who was part of the Monaghan Under 16 team which won the Buncrana Cup defeating Derry in the final on Saturday last.
LADIES NOTES
Ronan Leonard Blitz: A big thanks to all the teams who took part in the blitz this year. Congrats to Emyvale who claimed the cup in a very entertaining final with Eire Og. Also to Aughnamullen who claimed the shield against Truagh. Thanks to all who helped out in any way on the day.
Congratulations: To Ellen and the county team on their victory over Cavan recently.
