Week two of the Kellogg’s GAA Cul Camps took place from Monday the 6th of July to Friday the 10th. Just like week one, numbers in the camps where up across the board with 116 children in Castleblayney, 94 in Inniskeen and 152 in Monaghan Harps.

Unfortunately the weather wasn’t as good as the previous week but this didn’t deter the children and coaches enthusiasm for the week.  Each of the participants who attended the camps got an opportunity to play football, hurling, camogie, rounders and handball.

Rory Beggan and Ryan McAnespie were once again coaching at the camps. Rory attended all three camps over the week, He completed a number of different goalkeeping games and drills with the children which seemed to go down a treat. It just might inspired some children to take up goalkeeping! On the Friday of the camp, county players Paddy McGuigan and Benny McElroy attended the Castleblayney Cul Camp to help present the certificates, we would just like to thank them for giving up their time to come and attend the camp.

Monaghan Coaching & Games Development Committee would like to thank the host clubs for providing their excellent facilities and for supporting and promoting the camps. Furthermore they would like to thank camp co-ordinators, coaches, parents and children for their help in ensuring the camps where a success.

This week there are four camps taking place in Truagh, Killanny, Eire Og and Ballybay. After this week we will be over half way through our Kellogg’s Cul Camps for the year. From Monday we have two weeks of camps still to take place across 7 different venues. If your child isn’t registered yet and you would like to send them, you can still do so. Just log onto the Kellogg’s Cul Camp website and register your details. It is important to note that after the 1st of July, if you register your child on the camp after this date they are NOT guaranteed to receive the Kellogg’s Cul Camp backpack in the Monaghan colours.

The cost of the camp is €55 for the first child, €45 for the second child and €40 for every child after that. Each child received a free backpack, half zip training top and a Cul Camps jersey.

If you would like any further information about the camp please do not hesitate to contact county coordinator Paul O’Connor (086 837 4827) and he will be glad to help.
