Sunday July 19th will be the first time in 92 years that Monaghan have competed in three consecutive provincial finals.

The War of Independence and subsequent Civil War prevented the 1921 and 1922 Ulster championships from taking place, meaning all three competitions were run off in 1923 – with the 1921 final only going ahead after the 1922 and 1923 matches had been settled. Monaghan won the ’21 and ’22 finals but lost the ‘23 game to Cavan .
