Sean Mc Dermotts Notes

By Majella Boyd Wed 24th Jun

Reserve Football LeagueOur reserve team had a home tie against Drumhowan on Saturday evening last. The sunny conditions belied the tricky wind which prevailed on the night . The home side battled well but could not manage to get a sufficient lead built up to call the game their own. Drumhowan were admiral opposition on the night and they too fought hard for every ball and managed to stay in touch with the Seans for long periods of the game. However , as usual, it was down to the last few minutes when the play became scrappy and at times untidy. Both sides were wholly committed to securing the two league points for themselves and this brought the game to a nail biting conclusion. Points where exchanged in the closing stages where both sides took the slimmest advantage for , what only seemed like seconds. Eventually the whistle blew at level pegging 1-13 each. A share of the spoils but maybe one that just got away.

Nashville in Threemilehouse

Last Friday night saw the complex transformed into the Grand Old Opre for Fr John Kearns’ Silver Jubilee celebrations. A wonderful gathering of parishioners , friends and colleagues paid tribute to Fr. Johns milestone in his vocation. However, many top names from the world of country music also came to celebrate the occasion , Declan Nearney and Daniel O Donnell to name but two. It certainly was a night with the stars which continued into the wee small hours.

Keep Free.

The August bank Holiday as our annual sports makes a rock n rollin, hootin tootin return. Stay tuned.
