Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League
The reserve footballers played Sean McDermott’s last Saturday 6th June in the Platinum Tanks reserve football league division 2A campaign. The game was played at Pairc Naomh Mhuire and I know clichés are sometimes over-used and I know some clichés make people cringe but as you all know I quite enjoy them and I suppose the obvious one that crops up is “goals win games”. At some stage we have all heard that saying before and on this particular occasion I think it is very appropriate because, unfortunately, we grifted Sean McDermott’s four goals as they secured the victory. The first half was evenly contested with the lads competing well and they served up a thrilling battle that ebbed and flowed. Both teams showed good movement and intensity and at the interval there was nothing between the sides with the scoreboard showing Rockcorry 0-7 Sean McDermott’s 1-4. The pace, intensity and flow of the game continued and really was a great spectacle for the small group of supporters and Sean McDermott’s eventually took full advantage of the game after a couple of errors to seal the victory on a final score-line Rockcorry 0-9 Sean McDermott’s 4-9.

Go Games Blitz – Under 10
Holy Jeepers Batman! Can someone please remind what month it is? When you have to take a jumper, a waterproof coat, a warm hat, scarf, gloves and wellies to a match you would be forgiven for thinking that it was the 6th December rather than the 6th June. Anyway, the cold, wet and miserable weather conditions did not dampen the spirits of our under 10 footballers as they travelled to the Monaghan GAA Training Grounds located at Cloghan, Annayalla last Saturday 6th June to take part in another exciting Go Games Blitz. Sadly, due to other commitments last Saturday morning I was only able to stay in for a while but, what I did see, all the boys and girls showed plenty of enthusiasm as they demonstrated great effort and skill in a hugely entertaining match against Drumhowan. All players are improving every week and we can look forward to next Saturday when the under 8 players will take centre stage. Once again many thanks to the mentors for looing after the team and all the parents were not put off by the terrible weather and made the journey to Cloghan.
