Eurotech Junior Football League Fixtures
Our senior footballers played Oram today, Sunday 31st May, in the Eurotech Junior Football League and secured a comfortable victory. While Oram started brightly we quickly gained confidence and pulled away with some delightful scores and after the first thirty minutes we held a healthy advantage leading 2-10 to 0-3. We continued to work hard as a team and displayed a more clinical attitude and as a result we dominated proceedings during the second half and nudged further ahead to seal the league spoils on a final score-line Rockcorry 4-19 Oram 1-5. Gerry’s Prepared Veg – Under 12 Competitive League
The under 12 footballers played neighbours Agahbog in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg Division 4 league campaign last Saturday 30th May and I have to say, this was a really enjoyable and thrilling match and all players (both sides) have to be commended for their efforts, their passion and their commitment in what was a wonderful encounter. Aghabog started the game at a lightning pace and notched up 1-1 during the opening five minutes. Our lads battled gamely throughout the course of this encounter and played well as a team and put some very impressive moves together and slotted over some delightful scores from the boots of Lee Hall (0-3) and Josh Brannigan (0-1) to leave it 0-4 to 1-2 midway through the first half. The game continued at a frantic pace and on the twentieth minute Lee Hall popped up in the right place at the right time to pounce for a goal and just moments later Niall McCormick tapped over to leave the scoreboard showing Rockcorry 1-5 Aghabog 1-4 at the interval. The second half was again end to end stuff with both teams displaying massive amounts of determination and wonderful skills and Aghabog upped the ante, on the restart, and quickly levelled proceedings and they went in front shortly afterwards after scoring a tremendous point. There was still plenty of time to recover and our lads showed great character and battled back with fine scores from Timothy Elliott (0-1) and Lee Hall (0-1) to leave it on level terms with both sides having 1-7 apiece. The game was nip and tuck going into the final few minutes and in fairness could have gone either way with both teams having chances to go in front but it was the visitors who showed the greater composure in front of the posts and lobbed over the winner to claim the spoils with the narrowest of margins winning by 1-7 to 1-8. Hard luck boys and girls, sadly, the result did not go in our favour but if you continue to show that type of passion and commitment the results will come. Keep up the good work boys & girls. They are back in action tonight, Thursday 4th June, when they entertain Corduff at Pairc Naomh Mhuire and throw-in time is 7.30pm.
