Over the past number of weeks, our Hurling Development Officer Aidan Kelly has been busy out delivering hurling coaching sessions to a number of our primary schools. The primary schools that Aidan coached in would have never/ rarely received hurling coaching before so it is great to see schools interested in hurling and giving their pupils an opportunity to take part in one of our national games. Aidan delivered coaching sessions for children from 2nd to 6th class.
The sessions focused on the basic skills of hurling in a fun, game centered environment. All the children seemed to enjoy the experience and hopefully this will stimulate an interest in hurling and they will look to join a local hurling club.
The schools that took part in this programme were Loughmourne, Annalitten, Oram, Corduff and Broomfield.
This programme will be continued to roll out next year and hopefully more schools take up this great opportunity to experience hurling.
Please see below for a number of photos from the coaching sessions.
