Previews (June 13-18)

A week out from Monaghan’s Ulster SFC semi-final against Fermanagh, there are full rounds of star games in the Senior, Intermediate and Junior Football Leagues over the weekend.

The Silver Hill Foods Development Hurling League Final, due to take place at Gavan Duffy Park on Thursday night, has been postponed due to a bereavement in the Castleblayney club.

 

The top two in the County Monaghan Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League clash in Sunday’s local derby between Scotstown and Truagh, while there is another meeting of rivals when Magheracloone face Latton. Castleblayney and Ballybay make the short trip to Inniskeen and Clontibret respectively, while Monaghan Harps have home advantage against Donaghmoyne.

 

Carrickmacross have the chance to go two points clear at the top of the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League, for 19 hours at least, when they travel to Currin on Saturday evening, before the other two teams currently sharing first place (Doohamlet and Emyvale) go head-to-head on Sunday. Tyholland will bid for a third consecutive win when they host Aughnamullen on Saturday, while Sunday’s other fixtures are a mid-table battle between Corduff and Cremartin and Drumhowan v struggling Clones.

 

Eurotech Junior Football League front-runners Rockcorry are away to Éire Óg on Sunday, with second-placed Seán McDermotts going to Killeevan. Blackhill host neighbours Toome, while Oram travel to Killanny. The game between Scotstown and Aghabog will be played on Wednesday.

 

Magheracloone host Cremartin in a Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 1A basement battle on Wednesday, while Donaghmoyne face Drumhowan in Division 2A. In Division 2B, leaders Blackhill take on their nearest challengers Corduff, with third-placed Carrickmacross up against Truagh.

 

The Under-12 Football Leagues dominate the schedule in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg. juvenile competitions on Saturday, while there are also a couple of rescheduled Under-14 Football and Hurling League games in the next week. Carrickmacross and Castleblayney contest the Gerry’s Prepared Veg. Under-14 Hurling Championship Final on Monday evening.
