Flag Day: Our annual Juvenile Club collection will now take place tomorrow (Friday, June 26) and Saturday (June 27). We need all hands on deck for this vital fundraiser, which helps keep our many teams on the go throughout the year. Volunteers are needed for two-hour slots, starting at 10am on both days. Please contact Damien Morgan (086 8614730), Una Forde (087 6107329) or Aideen Swift (086 1062265) to volunteer to help out.

Seniors: Our senior footballers are away to Magheracloone this Sunday at 5pm. Wednesday’s game against Ballybay has been postponed.

Reserves: Toome conceded last Wednesday’s RFL Division Three game and Ballybay also conceded Saturday’s RFL Division 1B fixture. We are away to Tyholland in Division 1B tomorrow night (Wednesday) and we have a Division Three game in Emyvale this Sunday at 11am.

U-21: Our Under-21s have been drawn to play Killeevan at home in the preliminary round of the Division One knock-out competition on Friday, July 3.

Minor: After the exam break, our minor footballers are due to play Scotstown, Clontibret and Carrickmacross in the Division One league shield, starting on Tuesday, July 7. We have been drawn away to Truagh in a championship quarter-final on Tuesday, July 21.

U-16: The Under-16 Football League Division One will resume after the exam break with an away game against St. Patrick’s next Thursday, July 2, followed a week later by a championship quarter-final away to Scotstown.

U-14: Our Under-14 Division Four team play Tyholland in their championship final this evening (Tuesday) in Blackhill at 7.30. All support welcome. They host Cremartin in the league this Thursday. Our Under-14s have been invited to take part in a Féile competition in Co Derry this Saturday.

U-12: Our Under-12 Division Four team were edged out by 4-8 to 2-12 in a keenly-contested game away to Doohamlet last Saturday. Our lads started well with the wind at their backs, helped by points from Luke McManus (three), Cian Bradley, Senan Cudden and Jake McConnon. Luke added another three points before the end of the opening 20 minutes, but Doohamlet hit back with two goals to cut the gap to 0-9 to 2-1. Josh Kelly and Patrick Dooley-Duffy were on target in the middle third, but Doohamlet flew out of the blocks in the final period. Points by Jake, Luke and Shea Swift kept us in contention and although Doohamlet opened up a six-point lead at one stage, our lads kept going, with Cian and Senan finding the net to set up an exciting finish, which saw us just miss out on grabbing the win.

Team and scorers: Ethan Ballantine; Patrick Dooley-Duffy, Dáire Conlon; Michael McMorrow (Capt.), Gary Devlin; Jake McConnon (0-2, 1f), Luke McManus (0-7, 1 ’45); Cian Bradley (1-1), Josh Kelly; Shea Swift (0-1f), Senan Cudden (1-1).

Subs used: Morgan Coyle, Oisín Treanor, Shane Moran, Ali Galligan, Jordan Crampton, Gregory O’Connell.

The Division Four team are in action again this Saturday with a home game against Rockcorry. Saturday’s scheduled Division One and Five games against Donaghmoyne are due to be postponed until a later date.

Well done: To Neil McAdam and the Monaghan senior footballers, who qualified for another Ulster final with their win over Fermanagh last Sunday. Well done also to Hugh Coyle, who played for the Monaghan Special Olympics team in the half-time game and went close to scoring a great goal! Credit is due to everyone who helped with this excellent initiative, which was enjoyed by all involved.

Cúl Camp: Monaghan Harps is once again providing a host venue for this summer’s Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps. The camp will run from Monday, July 6 to Friday, July 10. This camp will include a wide range of football, hurling, camogie and handball for both boys and girls between the ages of six and 13. To ensure your child receives their kit on the week of the camp, it is recommended that you pre-register them for the camp. You can do this by filling out the application form online (via www.monaghangaa.ie) or by sending the application form into the Monaghan Coaching Offices in Cloghan. Forms are available for download via www.monaghangaa.ie or at our Saturday-morning coaching session. More details are available at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.

Féile: Well done to everyone involved in helping the hosting of Féile na nGael last weekend. A number of clubs from around the country played at Gavan Duffy Park, including our guests, Sallins from Kildare. There was some excellent hurling played over the two days and our grounds were in great condition throughout. We host the Development Hurling League Final between Castleblayney and Truagh this evening (Tuesday).

Harps Camp: After the success of last year’s Harps Summer Camp, we will host it for a second time from August 17-21. More details will be announced later.

Clubhouse: The Monaghan Harps clubhouse is available to book for functions. Contact Jimmy Croarkin on 087 1249635 for more information. Anyone looking to book the clubhouse for meetings etc. is asked to please give a week’s notice for convenience.

Hurling:

U-12s: Our U-12s travelled to Castleblayney on Monday last and were unlucky to lose out by six points on a score line of 2-10 to 2-4. However, the team is still well positioned in the league for the play-off stages of the competition. Training continues on Sunday at 12pm and our next fixture is at home to Clontibret on Monday, July 6 at 6.45pm.

Féile na nGael 2015: Last weekend we welcomed a host of clubs to Gavan Duffy Park, Rooskey and enjoyed a hugely successful weekend in the hosting of the Division Five, Group B stages and both Cup and Shield quarter-finals. On Friday, our U-14 squad narrowly lost out to Craobh Rua (eventual Cup finalists) in our opening group game and never really got going in the following match against Clann na nGael. On Saturday morning we put our comradery with our guests Sallins (eventual Shield finalists) aside for a short while as we played off the final group match. After a tight first half, Sallins pulled away in the second half and were deserved victors in the end. Saturday evening saw Rooskey host Cup and Shield quarter-finals and while our visitors enjoyed success against Carlow HC to progress to Sunday’s Shield semi-final, we came up against a strong Cúchulainns team and missed out on a semi-final spot. A huge thank you goes to all involved with both Hurling and Football in the Monaghan Harps Club for any contribution that they gave towards the smooth running of the weekend. It was an undoubted success for the club and was praised by all visiting clubs. The club would also especially like to thank Alan Ryan, Robbie Healy and Jim Dalton without whom we certainly wouldn’t have been in a position to successfully host the Féile competition.

U-16s & Minors: Our Under-16s were away to Castleblayney last Monday evening and were involved in a goal-fest. Unfortunately, Blayney’s greater goal total outweighed our greater points total and we lost out on a scoreline of 8-7 to 6-10. Next up, we are at home to East Cavan Gaels on Monday, July 6 at 8pm. We are still waiting on minor championship fixture details to be released to the clubs.

Seniors: Next up for the senior team is the championship quarter-final away to Carrickmacross on July 9 at 8pm.
