INTERMEDIATE
Our Seniors welcomed Carrickmacross to Cremartin on Sunday afternoon last. Carrick got off the mark first scoring from a free in the second minute but we responded quickly with Paddy McNally also scoring from a free at the other end of the pitch to equal matters. Some great work and blocks from our Defence resulted in a 45 which Carrick then converted. Mark Magee made a great solo run from the halfway line, breaking through the Carrick Defence and slotting the ball in the back of the net in the sixth minute. Another free was then converted by Carrick leaving only one between the sides after twelve minutes. Points were exchanged and Carrick drew level in the sixteenth minute and went on to outscore us by five points to two in the second quarter leaving the scoreline Cremartin 1-4 Carrickmacross 0-10 at halftime. Carrick added on another point in the second half before Ronan Burke rattled the net in the sixth minute of the second half. Points from Shane Burke and Patrick McNally put us in front with 20 minutes remaining on the clock. But Carrick drew level again in the 14th minute of the second half scoring another free. We responded with two well taken points from play from Shane Burke leaving us leading by two points going into the final quarter. The wind proved to be a big factor in the second half with both sides missing chances before Carrickmacross were awarded another free in the final minute of the half which they converted easily. We now led by a single point going into injury time. Carrickmacross had one final shot which just dropped short and was cleared by Damien Lavelle and it looked to be all over before Carrickmacross were awarded one final free which they converted to draw the sides level on a scoreline of Cremartin 2-8 Carrickmacross 0-14. Team and scores: Damien Lavelle, Fergal Mulligan, Liam Atkinson, Declan Farrell, Ronan Burke (1-0), Conor Mulligan, Shaun Buckley (0-1), Niall Flanagan, Mark Magee (1-0), Shane Mulligan, Kevin Atkinson (0-1), John Leonard, Shane Burke (0-3), Michael Morgan and Patrick McNally (0-3). Subs: Declan Mulligan, Ryan McVicar and Barry Carragher.
