Senior Men:Reserves:
The quarter final of The Crawley Cup Championship was played last week between Corduff and their near neighbours Carrick with all proceeds going to the Laura Crossan Fund. This was an epic encounter , bursting at the seams with drama and intensity keeping supporters enthralled until the final whistle. Corduff dominated the scoreboard in the first half holding Carrick scoreless until the 27th minute when they registered their first score. Corduff went in at the interval ahead on a scoreline of 0-5 to 0-1. In what was a low scoring second half Corduff only added a point to their tally . Carrick came right back into the game with both sides level at the full time whistle on 0-6 each setting up extra-time. With the light fading so were Corduff’s hopes of victory as Carrick closed the first period of extra time with a goal leading by 3 points. Corduff did register a point in the final period but it wasn’t enough. Despite a massive effort from the home side the visitors won and go on the semi-final.
Intermediate League:
On Sunday Corduff Senior men made the trip to St Oliver Plunkett Park for Round 8 of The Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League against Emyvale.
In what was played in blustery conditions Emyvale opened the scoring with Corduff going level twice early in the game on 0-1 each and 0-2 each. However Emyvale stretched ahead and by half time lead on a scoreline of 0-10 to 0-3. Emyvale proceeded to add to their tally with a goal making a comeback for Corduff looking unlikely. Corduff made a final rally but Emyvale were too strong for the visitors winning on a final scoreline of 1-15 to 0-8.
Intermediate League action continued last night with Clones making the trip to Corduff for Round 9 of the League.
