U10 Community Games

Well done to our parish Community Games team who won the Monaghan Final last week. A tremendous effort was put in by all; both players and management. In what was a tight fought final, Clontibret were behind until the final quarter when they managed to get the better of a strong Donaghamoyne team in a very exciting finish, and they went on to win by a margin of 4 points. They then went on to represent Monaghan in Ulster last weekend where they played extremely well but just came up against slightly stronger Cavan and Donegal sides. The players can be very proud of themselves and fully deserved the success that came their way. Well done lads.

U10 & U8

We are travelling to Tyholland this evening to take part in a U10/U8 Go Games Blitz. All players with a Clontibret jersey need to wear it to the game as this is a double blitz and we may be short of jerseys. Please meet at the hall at 6.15pm, the throw-in is scheduled for 7pm.

Parents are to make themselves available for transport if possible. Also each child must ensure to have their mouth guard and bottle of water with them.

U8

Training as usual Saturday morning at 10pm.

U6

Training Friday evening at 6.30pm.

Cul Camps 2015

Clontibret will again be hosting The Kellogg’s Cul Camps for 2015. These will run from 29th June to 3rd July. Last year was a major success with up on a 130 kids from the area taking part. Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps provide boys and girls – between the ages of 5 and 13 – with an action-packed and fun-filled week of activity during the summer holidays which revolves around maximising enjoyment and sustaining participant involvement in Gaelic Games. You can register online at gaa.ie/kelloggsculcamps

Camogie

Our U-14s were in action on Tuesday last and scored a very impressive win over Camlough. This was a very gutsy performance from the girls. Well done to Sine Markey who made her debut with the team.

Our U-16s return to competitive action on Tuesday next – June 30 – when they host Derrynoose. A reminder to all parents to ensure their daughters attend training this Thursday evening at 6.30! The following evening (July 1), the seniors host Mullagahbawn in the Division 1 League. The girls know the value of full attendance at training in order to keep a ‘clean sheet’ in this competition.

Marie and Michelle will make history on Saturday evening when they are presented with their inter-provincial medals In Navan Fort, Armagh, at 7.00pm – the first club members to ever have this honour bestowed on them. We wish them a wonderful evening and congratulate them on bringing such an honour to the club.

Well done to our U-10 players who participated in the Camogie/Hurling Blitz on Wednesday evening last in Cloghan. Despite meeting some tough male opposition the girls showed their true mettle and gave them a lesson in skill, fitness and toughness. Girl power at its best!! Thanks to the parents who travelled with the players and helped Marie out in various ways.

Hard luck to those who participated in the Poc Fada on Wednesday evening last – Marie, Sinéad and Ríoghnach. Unfortunately they were narrowly pipped by Castleblayney for a place in the Ulster final of this event in July.

A reminder that club training continues for seniors on Wednesday (unless notice is received about a match) and Friday at 7.30. The U-12/14’s train on Thursday evening from 5.30 to 6.30pm while the U-14’s /U-16’s follow and train until 7.30pm.

Please ensure that your (or your daughter’s) registration /membership fees are paid as training/playing without having paid is contrary to rule and of course no insurance cover can be provided – either as a player or official. Seniors contact Aisling and/or Eilish regarding same or complete the online form that was sent out some time ago.

Finally best wishes continue to go to Mary whose trips to Dublin are becoming more frequent as she prepares for her transplant. You are very much in our thoughts and prayers Mary!
