Emmets Lotto Won! Congratulations to Owen Flanagan (Shanmullagh) on winning our club lotto from all at the Emmets club. We were sorry to lose the jackpot but delighted when we realised it was he who scooped the €2,800 windfall.  The four numbers drawn on Monday week last were 04, 08, 15 and 16 and he came up trumps! Enjoy your winnings Owen and the may your good fortune continue in the future; for you have always supported us splendidly! It was back to basics on Monday night at the Emmet Centre where the new jackpot was €1,000 but there was no outright winner on this occasion. The numbers drawn 09, 19, 23 and 28: The first €50 voucher went to Nuala Tierney who played on line; Eugene O’Hanlon was in the winning enclosure again with a €20 voucher followed by N and S Smith (Kingscourt) who also got a “keep it local” €20 voucher; Ryan O’Rourke (Cloughvalley) got the final €10 voucher. Next week’s jackpot is € 1.100.

Emmets New Development! Our new dressing room facilities on the Donaghmoyne Road are well underway!  It won’t be long ‘til the rest of the building takes shape as we look forward to its completion in a few months’ time!  The Emmets will undertake a major fund-raising drive to help with the expenditure associated with the project and the particular details of the event will be announced in the near future. Meanwhile if you know someone who knows someone who might be interested in helping the venture regarding financial backing or sponsorship we would be glad to hear from you! We invite our business friends and our individual comrades at home and abroad to support our undertaking if you possiblycan!  When completed the new facilities will be there for every one of our future generation to enjoy! As you know the Emmets club was brought about by members of Irish National Foresters “Carrickmacross Branch” in 1903 and their splendid motto could fittingly apply to this very day!  “If you’re to Ireland true”  “We heed not race nor creed nor clan” “We’ve hearts and hands for you”

Emmets Club Results! The Intermediate team had a good away victory recently against unbeaten Emyvale and are currently holding top spot in the league on scoring difference from Doohamlet and Emyvale; the three teams are two points ahead of the chasing bunch! The Reserve Team were back in action after a month’s break and had a fine midweek win over the Grattans in Inniskeen by 3.10 to 2.06; a result which sees them on five points from four league games and in third place in the table; as it stands they are two points behind the leaders Blackhill. The minor football team travelled to Truagh for a division one league match; also played in midweek but they had no luck against the home side and were well beaten in the end.  On Tuesday evening Sean McDermotts came to town and beat them by 1.09 to 1.07. They battled hard against a bigger and stronger team as they have been doing in every game so far but with no great fortune. The under sixteen team faltered when they recently lost their first game in Division 1 against the unbeaten leaders Truagh.  The under-fourteen (Division 1) side had a big win in Inniskeen on Saturday last which was their first in three games played to date. While the under-fourteen (Division 5) team also accounted for Inniskeen on the same day in a high scoring game which keeps them well positioned in the table.

Emmets Club Fixtures! The under-sixteen team are home in Emmet Park on this Thursday evening (Tonight) where they face Monaghan Harps at 7.15pm; a win will keep them in a top four position.  On Sunday at 2.30pm Clones come to Carrickmacross in the Intermediate League in the seventh game of the competition and a home win should keep the Emmets on the right track and at the top of the table as we approach the half way mark of the competition. Next Wednesday the Emmets have another home game this time in the Reserve Football League when the visitors will be league leaders Blackhill. The throw-in for this one is 8.00pm and all support is welcome

Emmets Condolences! The club wish to express our commiserations to our Club Treasurer Niall Carolan on the death of his uncle Sean Carolan (Kingscourt) and we offer our sympathy to his wife and family on the passing of a great Gael. Sean formerly played with Kingscourt Stars and Kilmainhamwood and rumour has it he may even have played for the Emmets on a few occasions! The Emmets also sympathise with the extended Mills family on the unexpected death of Sean Mills; to his wife Margaret, son Sean, daughter Sinead we extend our deepest condolences!
