Results: The reserves took to the field for the beginning of the second round of fixtures in this years reserve league structure against Castleblayney in Ballybay last Saturday evening. In a fairly open and even early exchanges it took both defences times to settle and it was the Blayney forwards that settled the quickest taking the scores while Ballybay where guilty of wasting a number of great goal opportunities. The Ballybay defence got to grips with their opponents, winning their personal battles with impressive displays from Mark, Fergal, Evan & Conor. The forwards where able to kick a couple of scores to reduce the half time margin. In the second half Ballybay dominated the middle third with Cillian, Conor & Danny providing the driving he real driving force to the team. The attacking play, with Colin at its fulcrum, where able to unlock the Blayney defence but unable to get the goal they so badly required. In fact it was Blayney who got the goal as they attacked on the counter and despite the best efforts on Brian in goals, it more or less finished the game as a contest. To their credit Ballybay continued to battle but were unable to close the gap. Full time score Ballybay 0-9 Castleblayney 1-11. Team: Brian McCabe, Darren Smyth, Fergal Smyth, Evan Rutledge, Mark McArdle, Aaron Toner, Conor Hand, Cillian McAviney, Danny Gorman, James Kerr, Colin Malone, Barry Macklin, Niall Duffy, James Garraghan, Cathal Mooney, Barry McSkean, Paul McCabe & Brent Wylie.

Fixtures: The seniors are at home to Scotstown this Sunday at 2pm. The U12’s had are away to near neighbours Aughnamulen this Saturday at 12pm. The U16 had a good win over Donaghmoyne last week before the break for the exams, fair play to all and keep up the good work.

Good luck to all our club representatives who are sitting the Junior and Leaving Cert in the next number of weeks. We wish you all the very best.

Well done to all to the Ballybay representatives that played their part in Kingspan Park Breffni Park on Sunday last. The seniors will now go prepare for the Ulster semi final after an impressive display and we wish them all the best in their preparations in the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately the minors suffered a heavy defeat and will now concentrate on the St Pats team however the club are extremely proud of the efforts and manner the five boys put into their training and preparations for this competition. We’re sure that each and every one of you will have bigger more successful issues in the further.
