Holders Scotstown are the only team with four points in the County Monaghan Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League after they saw off Donaghmoyne on Wednesday evening. Goals by Owen Duffy and Hugh McElroy saw Latton win their local derby in Ballybay, while Paul Meegan hit a brace of first-half majors to lead Inniskeen to victory over Truagh in their return to senior football.

 Monaghan Electrical

Aughnamullen and Emyvale both have two wins to their name in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League after Wednesday’s games. Aughnamullen dug out a surprise win in a low-scoring game in Currin, while Emyvale edged out neighbours Tyholland. Goals by Aaron Jones (two), Kevin O’Hanlon and Stephen Gollogly gave Carrickmacross a decisive win in their derby with Corduff, while Cremartin had a similarly comfortable victory over Drumhowan and a late goal from Barry McBennett ensured that Doohamlet got off the mark at the expense of Clones.

 Eurotech

Oram are the early leaders of the Eurotech Junior Football League after they edged a low-scoring game against Seán McDermotts on Saturday, while Blackhill and Rockcorry share second place after the latter came from behind to salvage a draw in their clash. Aghabog had a seven-point win in Killanny, while Toome had eight points to spare over Killeevan.

 

Donaghmoyne and Magheracloone remain joint-top of the Minor Football League Division One after they drew on Tuesday evening, while St. Patrick’s lost to Scotstown, who had also beaten Carrickmacross on Saturday. Carrick fell to another heavy defeat against Monaghan Harps on Tuesday. Division Two table-toppers Na Mullaí Sarsfields had a big win over Cremartin on Tuesday, while Aughnamullen, who had joined the amalgamation on four points by edging a high-scoring game against Corduff on Sunday morning, lost to Toome. Corduff bounced back to beat Clones by three points on Tuesday, while Inniskeen had the same winning margin against Emyvale. Killanny, Patrick Emmets and Castleblayney are in a three-way tie at the top of Division Three after they beat Rockcorry, Emerald Sarsfields and Doohamlet respectively, while Latton defeated Tyholland.

Silver Hill Foods 

Inniskeen are top of the the Silver Hill Foods Minor Hurling League after their narrow win over Carrickmacross last Saturday, while Monaghan Harps got off the mark by hammering Truagh. The Grattans share first place in the Silver Hill Foods Senior Hurling League after they cruised past Truagh on Thursday, while Castleblayney did likewise to Carrickmacross. Mullahoran conceded to Clontibret.

 

Monaghan just missed out on qualifying for a first Allianz National Football League Division One Final since 1986 when they lost by a point to Dublin in their semi-final at Croke Park. See match report.

 

The county’s senior ladies fell short of a National Football League Division One semi-final place when they lost to Kerry.
